LEICA and Lonely Planet Team Up to Offer Photography Excursions

 LEICA M9 Titanium

Leica Camera and Lonely Planet have partnered up to offer photography tours of five historical North American cities with a Leica camera in hand. The tours begin in July 2011 and are limited to twelve participants. Cities include San Francisco, CA; New York, NY; New Orleans, LA; Savannah, GA and Los Angeles, CA, and were selected based on Lonely Planet's "Top Ten Places to Visit in 2011" as well as the book USA's Best Trips: 99 Themed Itineraries Across America.

Amateurs will be able to explore the world of point-and-shoot photography using Leica's compact cameras - the X1, D-Lux 5 and V-Lux 2 and the just released V-Lux 30. Experienced photographers can utilize Leica's flagship M9 rangefinder camera along with the entire portfolio of M lenses including the latest Super-Elmar-M 21 mm f/3.4 ASPH. and the world's highest-speed aspherical lens, the Leica Noctilux-M 50 mm f/0.95 ASPH.

Participants will also have the opportunity to submit their best images taken during the workshops for a chance to be featured online and for possible inclusion in future Lonely Planet guidebooks. Read more

The LEICA X1 in New Design

 LEICA X1

The high-performance digital camera is now available in black

September 21, 2010 - Leica Camera AG is pleased to present the LEICA X1 in a new black version, debuting at this year's Photokina on September 21. Available starting October 2010, the X1 not only features an elegant new color scheme, but also a sophisticated structured leather trim. With its combination of refined styling and high-performance technical features, the LEICA X1 is the ideal companion for discerning photographers in whichever finish they prefer.

The LEICA X1 is characterized by clean lines and an intensely focused design. The straightforwardness of its design, with a reduction to pure essentials and a compact, handy form, is strongly reminiscent of the legendary M cameras. This, in combination with its robust, all-metal construction and the tactile experience of its high-quality leather trim, makes the X1 a true Leica camera.

The LEICA X1 offers clearly laid-out functions and intuitive handling thanks to its simple operating concept. For uncomplicated photography, the X1 offers numerous automatic functions ranging from precise autofocus to automatic exposure. When set, these functions guarantee photographers perfectly exposed sharp images by simply pressing the shutter release, thus letting the user concentrate on the creative aspects of composition and framing.
