LevelSix.com Controller Adapters
The adapters are simple to setup and use: you hook them into the system, plug a Playstation controller into the adapter and play. The adapters are very impressive when you consider all the signals that must be converted between the different types of controllers. The controls are pretty much spot-on accurate with analog support, as if you're playing PS2 versions of games on other systems. The analog sticks have the exact same responsiveness as the other systems', and analog support for buttons works too. The GameCube's "click" function is simulated by pressing hard into the Dualshock's L / R buttons.
The only real disappointment is the force feedback vibration. It is there, but it is a little weak compared to the native system controllers. These adapters seem to only activate the Dualshock's smaller motor. I would guess that they just take any signal for a rumble and use the small motor by default; perhaps they couldn't figure out the signal differences between hard and soft vibrations.
It is recommended that you use the Playstation 2 controller "Dualshock 2" because it has pressure-sensitivity in its buttons, which is required for some GameCube, Xbox and Dreamcast games. Playstation 1 controllers WILL work, but the buttons are digital only and may not work properly for some games.
The adapters are inexpensive, ranging from $9.99 to $13.95 each. If you have multiple Playstation controllers and prefer their design, it makes a lot more sense to buy several of these adapters rather than fork out the money for $24.99 GameCube controllers and the whopping $39.99 for each Xbox controller.
