DVD Review: Me, Myself & Irene
DVD Picture: The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD is THX digitally mastered and exhibits pleasing quality throughout, though imagery is far from superior. Images are sharp, but the finer details tend to shimmer and distract. Moiré is quite bothersome, with shimmering noticed on the house and garage, roof shingles and vehicles, as well as in finer details like clothing. Otherwise, colors are rich, with full saturation, accurate fleshtones, and deep blacks. Minor edge enhancement is noticed. While the colors are pleasing, and sharpness is mostly appealing, image quality was a bit disappointing from what was expected. (Suzanne Hodges)
DVD Soundtrack: The Dolby® Digital 5.1-channel discrete soundtrack is dialogue and music oriented. Other than occasionally ample surround envelopment from the music, the audio originates from the screen channels. The dialogue production is very good, with voices having a natural-sounding presence and compelling spatial consistency with the visuals. The narrative has a pleasing-sounding presence without excessive mid-bass. The sonic imaging with sound effects is fairly deep across the screen but lacking in the surrounds. There are moments with deep bass extension and impact, though the .1 LFE sees little if any activity. Though not dimensionally sophisticated, this soundtrack should nonetheless deliver with reasonable satisfaction. (Perry Sun)
DVD-ROM Review
DVD-ROM Enhancements Rating: Disappointing
This title really does not have any true DVD-ROM features. It does include a great main menu, with good looking links for Online Games, Play the Movie, and DVD Main Menu.
The Online Games link actually sends you to Fox's home page, where you can then search for the actual games, which I, incidentally, never found. If you select the Play the Movie link, you go directly to the opening scene of Me, Myself and Irene, and if you select the DVD Main Menu link, you are sent to the DVD-Video main menu. Maybe the most disappointing title ever, which is fitting for this title, I suppose.
