Sony "Springs it Up" with New VAIOs

After CES, Sony is still coming out with new announcements. The latest is a spring refresh for its line of VAIO laptops. The Z Series now sports a Carbon Fiber Silver option, and have LTE 4G radios as customizable options. The laptops also now feature the latest Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, and RAID solid state drives. Prices start at $1949.99 for the new Z Series.

The S series have been upgraded to the latest Intel Core processors, while the 13" and 15" models can be upgraded to a Core i7 processor. The S Series also includes Hybrid Graphics with an AMD Radeon HD 6470M (512MB VRAM) or AMD Radeon HD 6630M (1GB VRAM). The 15" model will come standard with a 15.5" Full HD display (1920 x 1080) with IPS technology. Prices start at $799.99 for the 13" S Series and $979.99 for the 15" S Series, and they will be available early February.Read more

Best Buy Outs Two New Blue Label Laptops

Two new Blue Label notebooks are coming to Best Buy, with features including pre-loaded anti-theft technology, wireless 1080p HD streaming to your TV and solid state hybrid technology. The new Blue Label 3.0 laptops are Best Buy exclusives and are the latest in the customer-inspired You Spoke, We Listened program. The new Toshiba Satellite E305 ($899.99) and Sony VAIO VPCSC1AFM/S ($949.99) are available for online pre-order now and will be in stores starting May 1, 2011.

Both Blue Label 3.0 models run Windows 7 and include the latest Intel Core processors, a built-in Blu-ray drive and Wireless Display technology. They have a backlit keyboard, an improved battery life of up to seven hours, and include PC Theft Defense - a service that automatically shuts down the PC and locks down the data stored on it if the laptop is lost or stolen.Read more

Sony Gets Bright with New VAIO C Series Laptops

This week Sony announced the VAIO C Series, new laptops featuring the second generation Intel Core i5 processor, Blu-ray Disc drive (select models), and AMD Radeon 1GB Hybrid Graphics card (select models), but perhaps what really stands out are the colors. Offered in Neon Green and Neon Orange, there's certainly no mistaking your laptop from someone else's when you're snagging free Wi-fi at your local coffee shop. The new series is also available in Lightning White and Bolt Black for those of you who don't want such lively colors.

Available in two screen sizes, the CA10 features a 14-inch LED backlit LCD widescreen display and the CB10 features a 15.5-inch LED backlit LCD widescreen display (with the option of a Full HD 1080p screen). Both models have one-touch VAIO, ASSIST and WEB buttons for launching Media Gallery software, VAIO Care software and access to the web without full boot-up into Windows, along with backlit keyboards, a built-in HD web camera with Face tracking, and a microphone. New VAIO PCs Act as a Personal Hotspot for Multiple Devices

Sony's new VAIO Z and Y Series laptops are "the world's first out-of-the box laptops that act as a personal hotspot." Select models include an embedded wireless technology called Share My Connection (SMC) which can turn your laptop into a mobile wireless access point. Verizon Wireless Mobile Broadband service is required, and once activated, Share My Connection converts the wireless mobile broadband signal into a Wi-Fi signal that can be transmitted through your PC to up to five Wi-Fi-enabled PCs or devices.

The Z model features a 13.1-inch high-resolution LED backlit widescreen display, weighs in at about 3.0 lbs, and delivers up to seven hours of battery life. It has a durable carbon fiber and aluminum casing and also comes with an optical drive (Blu-ray optical drive optional).Read more

Sony VAIO W Series Billabong Mini PC Hits the US

Sony has a new mini-PC for surf enthusiasts, the VAIO W Series Imperial Lime Edition featuring a boardshort-inspired design from Billabong. The W Series has a HD (1366x768) 10.1-inch LED backlit widescreen display, 250GB hard drive, 500RPM hard drive, 1.83GHz Intel Atom N470 CPU, Intel GMA 3100 for video processing, and runs Windows 7 Starter operating system. It touts a battery life of up to seven hours.

Sony will also be participating in Billabong's Design for Humanity event on June 10, 2010. The company will donate two of the new Billabong inspired W Series mini-PCs to be auctioned off at the Design for Humanity event with all proceeds going to the Invisible Children foundation.

New VAIO E Series Notebooks Announced

Sony this week announced a new line of colorful and affordably-priced notebook computers— the VAIO E Series.

The VAIO E Series feature a 15.5" (diag.) LCD screen, Intel Core i3-330M (2.10GHz), Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit ,4GB RAM, CD/DVD burner, webcam, HDMI output, eSATA/ USB port, three USB ports and Bluetooth capability. An optional Blu-ray drive is also available.

The E Series sports three handy hardware buttons too - WEB, VAIO and ASSIST. The WEB button allows you to access the Internet without a full boot up; launch Sony's Media Gallery software by pushing the VAIO button; and troubleshoot problems or do your own PC maintenance by pressing the ASSIST button. Sony Announces New Touch-Screen HD PC/TV

Sony just unveiled the new touch-enabled, multimedia VAIO L Series Touch HD PC/TV.

The PC has a 24-inch WUXGA (1920x1080) Full HD widescreen display, Intel Core 2 Quad processor (select models), 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, tons of RAM, dedicated NVIDIA GeForce series graphics, and it comes with Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional 64-bit operating system. A wireless keyboard, mouse and remote control (select models) are included. Select models have a Blu-ray Disc optical drive. A rewritable BD drive is also available.

Also, some models feature a built-in tuner so you can connect to your digital cable TV service and Over-The-Air (ATSC) HD TV signals (antenna required) to watch TV on your PC. An optional HDMI input is available. It has built-in DVR capabilities and up to a terabyte of storage. Read more
