Vermont Ski Areas Nearly 100%

Woman skiing Nearly continuous snowfall over Vermont's peaks during the past two weeks, has enabled Vermont ski areas to have nearly 100% of their legendary trails, slopes, pipes and terrain parks open for the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday weekend. The amount of terrain open for this holiday weekend is virtually identical to terrain open during the same period last season, when Vermont ski/ride conditions were acknowledged as being some of the best in memory. Nearly 10 feet of natural snow has fallen on some Vermont ski areas since mid-December, and storms producing six-to-10 inches of snow have been commonplace during the past two weeks. As a result, Vermont will offer nearly 6,000 acres of skiing and riding heading into the holiday weekend . . .and there's more snow in the forecast.

Following a relatively natural snow-free Fall and early December, Mother Nature has blessed Vermont mountains with an abundance of snow since mid-December. Mad River Glen, for example, which relies on natural snow for most of its trails, is 100% open, as are the majority of Vermont's alpine and nordic ski areas.

Vermont ski areas offer a variety of holiday activities and events for vacationers heading to the Green Mountain State for the holiday. Event schedules and the latest snow conditions at alpine and nordic areas are available at www.skivermont.com.
