Napa Winery Offers the Ultimate Wine Lovers' Getaway

Have you ever dreamed of owning your own winery and making your own wine? Cliff Lede Vineyards is making this dream a reality with its 2006 BYOB (Blend Your Own Barrel) program. Located in prime Cabernet Sauvignon country in the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley, Cliff Lede Vineyards first launched this program in 2004.

The ultimate luxury experience for wine aficionados and close friends, the uber-exclusive, three-day wine country extravaganza features the opportunity for five couples to blend their own barrel of wine alongside Winemaker Michelle Edwards (formerly of Colgin Cellars and Peter Michael Winery fame) and Proprietor Cliff Lede. BYOB participants will spend their days walking the vineyards and in the cellar blending their own signature wine, using only lots that are earmarked for the winery's flagship Poetry ($120 bottle, 775 cases) wine.

After working up a healthy appetite blending, tasting and challenging their palates, BYOB guests will have private meals prepared by top Napa toques at Cliff Lede Vineyards and Poetry Inn. One evening, Proprietor Cliff Lede will host guests at one of his favorite Napa Valley restaurants—offering a true insider's look at the good-life of a Napa Valley wine owner. Two nights relaxing in the Poetry Inn's unparalled luxury, lounging by each room's wood burning fireplaces, indulging in a private outdoor shower, while soaking up the staggering views cap off the wine lover's dream vacation.

BYOB participants will go away with the ultimate souvenir, 10 cases (per couple) of their own signature blended wine (to be shipped after bottling in 2007), which is sure to wow family, friends, and make other wine aficionados green with envy. Cliff Lede Vineyards will also work with each couple to design their own custom label.

The all-inclusive BYOB program includes:

• A two night stay at the luxurious Poetry Inn
• 10 cases per couple of their signature BYOB blend
• All transportation, via limousine, during BYOB stay
• All meals during BYOB
• Cost of domestic shipping for wine (to be shipped in late 2007)

The cost is $15,000 per couple. BYOB will take place from Sunday thru Thursdays, March through June in 2006. Due to the scarcity of Poetry wine that goes into the BYOB program, only two BYOBs will be offered in 2006. Cliff Lede Vineyards suggests that groups of five couples best ensure the camaraderie of a BYOB group.

A sample itinerary of the three day program:

Day one: Arrive in the afternoon, where guests will be picked up by limousine and taken to the Poetry Inn. The rest of the afternoon will be free for guests to enjoy Poetry Inn's luxurious amenities and freshen up for dinner. Dinner will be at Cliff Lede Vineyards, prepared by a Napa chef and hosted by Cliff Lede and Michelle Edwards. After tasting through a range of Cliff Lede and Poetry wines, Cliff and Michelle will work with each couple to learn about the type of wine they'd like to craft.

Day two: After a gourmet 3-course breakfast prepared at the Poetry Inn, vintners-to-be will walk the vineyards with Cliff Lede's Vineyard Manager David Abreu, a rare opportunity itself. A lunch overlooking the vineyards will be served at the Inn, and the afternoon will be free to enjoy the bounty of the Napa Valley. Poetry Inn's Innkeepers will arrange any customized, exclusive wine tours or activities, such as biking, hiking or ballooning. For those more in the mood to rest, relax and rejuvenate, guests can enjoy massages at Poetry Inn in either their private rooms terraces or in the Treatment Room. Dinner will be at one of Cliff's favorite local restaurants or at the winery.

Day three: In the morning, guests will blend their ideal wine, using more than twelve different Poetry caliber lots. Want a powerhouse red or something slightly silkier? Michelle and Cliff will help you craft your perfect cuvee. A casual pizza lunch at the winery will celebrate the 2006 BYOB experience. Guests will depart in the afternoon.
