Hotel St-Barth Unveils its Own Tropical Garden of Eden
The 33-room Hotel St-Barth Isle de France, situated on the Baie des Flamands on the island of Saint Barthélemy - considered the St-Tropez of the Caribbean, has created a heavenly oasis set amidst a luscious and fragrant tropical garden for its new massage pavilion, offering three new massage therapies - Reiki, Thai Massage, and Reflexology.
Designed to transport guests to a state of total relaxation and tranquility through the use of soft palates of whites, beiges and warm browns and fragrant tropical essences, the massage pavilion truly personifies a Garden of Eden. The massage pavilion, which is secluded and protected by indigenous flowering vegetation, is an open-air platform enveloped by billowing sheer draperies made of fine linens and furnished with new signature Molton Brown bedding made of the finest natural fiber. Created by Molton Brown, operators of The Spa at Hotel St-Barth Isle de France, the massage pavilion mirrors the company’s philosophy of Four Journeys: renew, radiance, replenish and regenerate. The Four Journeys consists of treatments and therapies designed for each season with the goal of restoring the mind to its natural state while rejuvenating the body to achieve total well-being.
The massage pavilion will feature several massage therapies including 3 new therapies – Reiki, Thai Massage, and Reflexology. Reiki is known for its healing properties that eliminate stress and energize the body and involves direct application of Universal Life Force Energy for the purpose of bringing balance and harmony to the client. This technique involves placing a hand upon the person to be healed with the intent for healing to occur. It is widely believed that this energy will begin to flow and enable the body to heal itself. The combination of the tranquility of a tropical garden and effects of a centuries-old Japanese healing technique enables guests to begin the journey towards renewal.
Also new to the menu of treatments and therapies is Thai Massage, one of the world's oldest healing treatments. Performed exclusively in the Garden Pavilion, Thai Massage, sometimes called “Yoga Massage,” is an interactive manipulation of the body using passive stretching and gentle pressure along energy lines to create space within the body. The client experiences an increase in flexibility, energy and sense of peace and relaxation. Reflexology, the third new treatment added, is widely popular and far-reaching in its healing and relaxation abilities. Reflexology is based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet and hands that correspond to every part of the body. By stimulating and applying pressure to the feet or hands, you increase circulation and promote specific bodily and muscular functions. This ancient Egyptian therapy helps to boost the immune system and promotes total relaxation and is ideal for those seeking to be completely pampered.
Inspired by the abundance of natural resources and fragrant tropical vegetation surrounding the hotel, Molton Brown, the U.K.-based cosmetics and skin care company opened The Spa at Hotel St-Barth Isle de France in 2002. It offers an atmosphere of total relaxation and pure indulgence to help guests return to a natural state-of-well-being through an extensive menu of treatments, therapies and rituals blending ingredients from the French Caribbean, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Each journey begins with an assessment of present state-of-mind and life-stage and is followed by personalized treatments and therapies engaging all five senses. Incorporated into this unique philosophy is a program of treatments utilizing natural floral essences and Caribbean spices to purify the mind as well as the signature Enlivening leg therapy that combats the effects of long flights. The extensive menu of treatments is quintessentially French and includes a full range of facials, massages, steams, and body wraps. Massages are included in select packages and can be purchased a la carte as well. A la Carte rates range from 110 euros to 180 euros. Packages are available.
