Fort Lauderdale Guarantees Warmth
As the U.S.
struggles
through its coldest winter in more than 20 years, the Greater Fort
Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau is making an offer too good
to
resist. Beginning March 1, 2003, Greater Fort Lauderdale's
"Guaranteed
Warmth" program will award travelers one complimentary room night
on a
minimum three-night stay if the temperature on any day of the visit
fails
to reach the 70-degree mark.
The "Guaranteed Warmth" program will continue through May 1. However, travelers looking to take a chance on this offer would be best served to book early, when the temperature has a better chance of being a bit cooler.
More than 60 hotels in Greater Fort Lauderdale are participating in the "Guaranteed Warmth" program, from large resort hotels such as Marriott's Harbor Beach Resort & Spa and the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six to Greater Fort Lauderdale's portfolio of Small Superior Lodgings from Hollywood to Deerfield Beach. Special "Guaranteed Warmth" rates begin at just $49 per night (plus tax). For a full list of hotels participating in the program and their special rate or to make a reservation, visit www.sunny.org/warm.
"With our northern neighbors experiencing frigid temperatures and six more weeks of winter ahead, we thought that the best way to get travelers to experience Greater Fort Lauderdale's warm sunshine and warm welcome, would be to make an offer that was hard to refuse," said Nicki E. Grossman, President of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau.
"The northeast is the top region for visitors to our area, and the New York to Fort Lauderdale is the most heavily traveled air route in the nation. And with great airfares available, now is the perfect time to warm your toes and warm your spirit," she added.
The official temperature will be provided through the National Weather Service. The NWS thermometer is located at the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport. Visitors can check the current and the previous day's temperature, as well as historical data, from the National Weather Service by going to www.wunderground.com.
