Fly Non Stop to Curaçao from the Northeast

July 12, 2005 – The ink is still wet on the agreement signed just last week, officially marking the initiation of a Continental Airlines flight from Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey to Hato Airport in Curaçao.

“We are extremely happy that Continental will begin non-stop service to Curaçao this December,” stated Executive Director of Tourism Jim Hepple. “New York is our number one US market and our travel partners and customers have been asking for non-stop service for some time now. We are very confident that we will see new business as a direct result of the introduction of this flight. We are also very happy to be partnering with Continental which has a significant presence in the New York market.”

The flight will begin on Saturday, December 17, 2005, and operate year round on a weekly basis, departing Newark at 9:00 am every Saturday and arriving in Curaçao at 2:40 pm. The return flight from Curaçao to Newark will depart at 3:30 p.m. and arrive at 7.30 PM. (in the summer months the flight will arrive in, and depart from, Curacao one hour earlier but will still arrive in Newark at 7.30 pm). Continental will use a B737-700, which seats 112 economy and 12 first-class seats, a total of 124 passengers.

“Currently, there are both hotel expansions and new projects in the works, including a brand new 350-room Hyatt Regency as well as 240 room Renaissance Hotel, so we will easily be able to handle the increase in visitors and look forward to being able to share our island with more people,” Hepple said.

Curaçao, located outside of the hurricane belt, boasts an eclectic mix of history and culture, which creates a Caribbean experience like no other. Also known for its eco-tourism and pristine diving conditions, Curaçao attracts the adventure traveler as well as those looking to unwind and enjoy its perfect climate. Visitors to Curaçao will enjoy an 18-hole championship golf course, gourmet and local cuisine, museums, art galleries, casinos and much more.
