TomTom announced this week that they are expanding its TomTom HD Traffic service to all LIVE models available in the United States. Until now, TomTom HD Traffic was only available on the GO 2535 M LIVE.

Now, owners of the GO 740 LIVE and XL 340 LIVE, as well as the newly released GO 2535 M LIVE, will not only have access to LIVE Services - including Local Search, Fuel Prices, and Weather Forecasts – but they will also have access to TomTom HD Traffic.

TomTom also announced that they have dropped the annual subscription fee for LIVE Services to $59.95 per year (previously it was priced at $119.95!). Read more

First introduced at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show, TomTom's GO Series is now available in the United States. The new models include the GO 2535 M LIVE (formerly the GO 2505 M LIVE) and the GO 2435 and 2535.

The connected GO 2535 M LIVE is the first of the TomTom GO LIVE devices to feature LIVE Services, including TomTom HD Traffic. TomTom HD Traffic captures more actual traffic jams and recognizes traffic conditions for all major and secondary roads within the U.S., with real-time traffic updates delivered every two minutes.

LIVE Service is delivered via AT&T's wireless network and also includes Local Search powered by Google, Fuel Prices, and Weather Forecasts. LIVE Services are available out-of-the-box with a free 12-month subscription. Read more

TomTom announced this week that they have launched a new Roadside Assistance service for all users of TomTom's GPS devices and the TomTom App for iPhone. This new service will aid drivers with towing, flat tire repair, jump starts, vehicle lockout service, fuel delivery, and more.

The program is offered to both new and existing TomTom drivers in the U.S. and Canada thanks to a partnership with Cross Country Automotive Services.

"As one of the most respected and established motor clubs in America, we look forward to giving TomTom drivers access to our award-winning response teams," said Charlie Cavolina, Chief Service Officer, Cross Country. "With service available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year, we can offer TomTom drivers peace of mind no matter when or where they are driving."

Sony has teamed up with TomTom on its first in-dash car navigation systems. The new XNV-770BT and XNV-660BT A/V navigation systems come pre-loaded with TomTom's map database of both U.S. and Canada roads, with one free year of map upgrades. Additional TomTom features include IQ Routes, Advanced Lane Guidance, Quick GPSfix, MapShare and more than 6 million points of interest.

The XNV-770BT model features a 7-inch, fully capacitive touch motorized panel WVGA display and the XNV-660BT has a 6.1-inch capacitive touch WVGA display with several hard keys such as volume and key menu buttons. They both have rear USB-1 wire connectivity for hooking up your iPod (or other music player), and have Bluetooth capability. The music playback screen displays all song metadata and album artwork when connected to the device. Read more

TomTom just announced that its TomTom app for iPhone has been updated. Version 1.3 now includes real-time traffic compatibility and Local Search powered by Google.

New features such as Local Search, Automatic Day/Night Mode, Pinch and Zoom, Music Fading and a new Map Update have been added and are free to existing TomTom app for iPhone users. If you want real-time traffic updates, that will cost you an additional $19.99 for 12 months of service. Not bad, considering the moment a traffic delay is found, you are notified and can be automatically re-routed to an alternative route. Traffic delays can be heard audibly on the device as well as displayed on the screen. Read more

The EASE is TomTom's newest entry-level GPS that was introduced at CES 2010. Portable and easy to use, the TomTom EASE features an improved EasyMenu interface an integrated EasyPort mount, allowing you to fit the entire device (with attached mount) into your pocket or glove compartment.
