Acer Intros New Multi-Touch Notebook; Expands Timeline Series

Acer has some big announcements today! They have expanded their Timeline Series with a new, smaller 11.6-inch model. Also, other new models in the Timeline Series now include dual-core processors for better performance and a longer battery life. But the news that really got my attention is their new Aspire AS5738PG. It is the company's first multi-touch screen notebook computer.

The multi-touch Aspire AS5738PG features an LED-backlit 16:9 widescreen HD display, 320GB hard drive, Intel Core 2 Duo processor, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 Graphics with 512MB Dedicated DDR3 VRAM graphics, Dolby Home Theater Audio Enhancement with built-in speakers and 5.1-channel surround sound. It also includes an integrated multi-in-one media reader, HDMI port, four USB 2.0 ports, integrated 802.11a/g/b/Draft-N wireless technology, Gigabit Ethernet and the Acer Crystal Eye webcam. Oct. 14, 2009 – Acer America, part of the world’s second largest manufacturer of notebook PCs, today expands its Aspire Timeline Series of "all day computing" notebooks with a new 11.6-inch model that is ideal for road warriors and ultraportable enthusiasts.

In addition, the company announced today that it has expanded its entire line of Acer Aspire Timeline Series notebooks with models that feature Windows 7 and new Intel CULV dual-core processors for enhanced performance and functionality. The lines starts at just $549.99 (MSRP) and the line comes in several color choices including a new chic, yet subtle "espresso" color for the 15.6-inch model. Read more

The Acer Aspire Timeline series features three different sized versions. All three versions are equipped with a 16:9 (1366 x 768 resolution) LED-backlit display, an Intel 4500MHD graphics card and a battery that is said to last over 8 hours.

The 15.6-inch version features a 1.3GHz Pentium SU2700 processor for $598, while the 14-inch version comes equipped with a 1.4GHz SU3500 Core Solo unit at $699 and finally, the 13.3-inch edition, houses a 1.4GHz SU9400 Core 2 Duo and is priced at $899.
