Super K.O Boxing 2 on iPhone

Super K.O Boxing 2
System: iPhone/iPod Touch
MSRP: $4.99
Release Date: October 1, 2009

Super K.O Boxing 2 is like Punchout, except with more flair. But, has Glu Games created an interesting boxing game that isn't just shiny?

Graphics

The first thing you will notice in Super K.O Boxing 2 is that the graphics are very crisp and cartoon-like. The boxers will dish out various punches and jabs, along with flaming punches and one-tow combos. Surprisingly, with everything that can go on in a round, I never once noticed any lag or distortion. And for the record, I have an older 1st Gen iPhone (i.e. weaker processor).Read more

Upgrade from the iPhone 3G to 3G S for $199 (Maybe)

 Apple iPhone 3G S

If you are an iPhone 3G owner wanting to upgrade to the 3G S, AT&T just announced that they will lower the price to $199 for some iPhone owners wanting to upgrade. The catch is this – the lower price will apply for customers who would have qualified for the "new buyer" price between now and September. If that's not you, expect to pay $399 for the upgrade.

Customers qualify for the "new buyer" price after a certain period, determined by how much the monthly plan is (and if payments are current). If you pay at least $100 a month, you would usually qualify 12 to 18 months after purchase, AT&T said. But, since the 3G went on sale about 11 months ago, current 3G owners wouldn't qualify for the "new buyer" price. So, Apple is actually (surprise!) letting you get the upgrade a little bit early (that is, if you qualify).

In other iPhone news, Apple announced that they will be opening their Apple retail stores at 7am on Friday (an hour earlier than they originally planned). AT&T stores will open at 7am for those that have preordered the 3G S, 9am for those who haven't. Phones will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Apple Announces the iPhone 3G S (Speed)!

 Apple iPhone 3G S

According to SunSpider JavaScript, the iPhone 2.0 loaded a webpage in 126 seconds, while the 3G loaded one in 43 seconds. Well, the 3G S should load in 15 seconds! The 3G S will also support OpenGL|ES and 7.2 Mbps HSDPA.

Everything about the camera has been improved, too. A 3MP autofocus camera that can take 30 fps video is installed in the new iPhone. It will also feature auto white balance and auto exposure. There’s been a voice dialer added, too. You can tell your iPhone to call someone, play a song type, play a playlist, etc.

Other features include:

  • Built-in digital compass
  • Built-in support for Nike+
  • Hardware Encryption
  • Better battery life extension
  • The 3G got 6hrs on Wi-Fi, 7 on Video, 24 on Audio, 10 on 2G talk and 5 on 3G talk. 3GS gets 9 on Wi-Fi, 10 on video, 30 on audio, 12 on 2g talk and 5 on 3g talk
  • No front camera :(

The iPhone 3G S will ship at $199 (16GB version) and $299 (32GB version) on June, 19th. It will be available in 80+ countries by the 26th. The iPhone 3G (8GB) will stay in the market for $99, starting today!
