Skype Adds Facebook Video Calling (video)

 Skype Adds Facebook Video Calling

Skype's new update launched on Tuesday, and it brings a cool new feature to both the Windows and Mac environments. Now, Skype lets you message as well as make video calls with people logged into Facebook.

When you download the new version of Skype, you are presented with the option to connect to Facebook. Once connected, you can then see which of your friends are available to chat or see on video. Calling them is as simple as tapping a button next to their name.

To see a demonstration of how it works, take a look at the video below. For those who want to download the Beta versions now, you can get the Mac version here and the Windows version here.

Another feature has also been added to Skype with Windows. Now, users can get group screen sharing, and the rendering engine has been updated to make the video smoother.

Mobile Devices - A Matter of Balance, Style

 The Hangover (2009), Warner Bros

"They are mature, actually. You just have to get to know them better." Stu Price (Ed Holmes), The Hangover (2009), Warner Bros

Just got back from a family holiday and no one even knew we were gone.

The phone was always on…just in case.

Handled the emails first thing in the morning and late in the afternoon.

It's surprising how many things you can handle/resolve in an hour when there's no one to interrupt you!

Also did a Skype conference call that was scheduled …it's so cool to be in a meeting in the Pacific Basin and not have to fly there!

The only time we were really unavailable was while flying (too cheap to pay for the in-air Wi-Fi) and when we were scuba diving.Read more

Gen X, Gen Y: Creating Havoc for Marketers

 Back to the Future (1985)

"Whatever you've got to tell me, I'll find out through the natural course of time." Dr. Emmett Brown, Back to the Future (1985)

We hate kids…O.K., the word "hate" may be a little too strong. We're jealous of them! There, we said it…we're glad…we've got two of our own!

We're part of the Baby Boomer Generation--(there are two parts -- 1946 – 1964). Then, there are the Gen Xers ('65 – '78). Then Gen Y ('79 – '89). Now, it's the iGen (1990 – 2009).

No, that isn't the "i" Jobs would like. It's the "i" as in instant, immediate, individual. They're creating havoc with business because we simply cannot figure out how to monetize tomorrow's hardware, software, service solutions.

We loved the old CEA (Consumer Electronics Association) chart of technology adoption:

  • PCs took 21 years for 50% household penetration
  • Color TV took 13 years
  • Cellphones took 12 years
  • Cordless phones took 15 years
