Activision just announced the next entry in the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, a sequel to one of the most successful games of all time. Treyarch, the studio behind the original Black Ops title, is developing the sequel. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 propels players into a 21st Century Cold War, where technology has created a new generation of warfare. Activision chief Eric Hirshberg indicated that, "The next Call of Duty will bring meaningful innovation to the series."

The game is available for pre-order now and is slated to be released on November 13th for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Activision just announced they are kicking off a 10-city Mall Tour in support of the new Tony Hawk: SHRED video game, which is hitting store shelves on October 26. The Tony Hawk: SHRED interactive experience will give fans an opportunity to jump on the game's intuitive board controller and experience supersized skate and snowboarding.

There's a new Guitar Hero hitting store shelves this fall – Guitar Hero: Warrior of Rock! It will feature an all-new, story-driven Quest Mode narrated by Gene Simmons of KISS, a completely redesigned rock-inspired guitar controller, the biggest on-disc selection of rock music ever in a Guitar Hero game and Quickplay+, which lets you test your rock skills in any of the on-disc or over 500 songs in the Guitar Hero Music Library.

In the game's Quest Mode, (narrated by KISS' Gene Simmons), eight characters aid the Demi God of Rock as they try to save rock 'n roll from "The Beast." Guitar Hero: Warrior of Rock still has favorites like Party Play's jump in/jump out gameplay, tons of Competitive modes…and of course, you can play any combination of guitar, bass, drums and vocals.

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock features more than 90 tracks from bands like Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Slipknot, Queen, Muse and KISS. Also, Dave Mustaine of Megadeth wrote and recorded "Sudden Death," an original track for the game, which was inspired by Quest Mode's storyline. Read more

Activision just announced that the second pack of new multiplayer maps from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, will hit Xbox LIVE on June 3rd. Dubbed the "Resurgence Pack," it will consist of five maps. No additional information was given about the maps, or a release date for PlayStation 3 or PC users. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see…

It was also announced that Infinity Ward will host two Double XP weekends. The first Double XP will take place beginning Friday, May 28, and the second on Friday, June 4.
