T-Mobile Unveils HTC Amaze 4G and Samsung Galaxy S II

T-Mobile USA CMO Cole Brodman details consumer adoption of 4G technology and unveils next-generation 4G devices

September 27, 2011—(BUSINESS WIRE)—This week at GigaOm Mobilize 2011, T-Mobile USA Chief Marketing Officer Cole Brodman outlined the company’s ongoing efforts to fuel consumer adoption of mobile data through increased speeds of America’s Largest 4G Network, rate plans that make mobile data more affordable, and new devices that take advantage of the company’s faster 4G network and value.

AT&T has confirmed that its Samsung GALAXY S II smartphone will be ready October 2nd for $199.99 with a new two-year contract. The Samsung GALAXY S II sports a lightning-fast dual-core 1.2GHz Samsung Exynos processor, a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 16GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera capable of recording HD video and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chats. AT&T's version of the smartphone also supports its 4G HSPA+ network.

The announcement for the new gadget was held at a press event in NYC recently. Instead of rebranding the device as the "Attain" as previously rumored, AT&T will simply keep it as the Samsung Galaxy S II. But unlike the other variants for the WiMAX network and for T-Mobile, AT&T's version will not get the screen size boost up to 4.5-inches.Read more

Sprint Gets Galaxy S II First With Samsung Epic 4G Touch

This week the new Samsung Galaxy S II was announced. It will be available at AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile, Verizon being the only wireless provider not carrying the device. Getting the smartphone to its customers first is Sprint, with the Samsung Galaxy S II, Epic 4G Touch hitting Sprint stores on September 16 for $199.99 (with new two year agreement or eligible upgrade).

Measuring just 0.38 inches thick, Epic 4G Touch boasts a 4.52-inch Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen and one of the fastest dual-core processors available, the Samsung Exynos. It is built on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and also includes an 8-megapixel, rear-facing camera/camcorder with auto-focus and flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It is capable of shooting 1080p HD video.

Additional features include:

  • 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot capable, supporting up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices on the Sprint 3G or 4G network
