G-Form, the company famous for its demonstration of protecting an iPad from a 100,000 foot fall from the stratosphere, now has its first protective cases for iPhone 4/4S. In typical G-Form fashion, the company released a video of its new iPhone case taking some extreme punishment, this time using a G-Form protected iPhone as a puck in a hockey rink!
The cases for iPhone 4 are designed and manufactured in the United States, and are protected by RPT material - a revolutionary composite, blending Poron XRD material with other proprietary G-Form materials and technology.
"Our energy absorbing technology doesn’t rely on thickness like typical foams or hard plastics, so we are able to design both athletic and electronic protective gear that offers unbelievable protection from impact, but without the bulk of any traditional technology," said Thom Cafaro VP Innovations. "The new G-Form iPhone 4 case is a perfect example of this, with its sleek design and unsurpassed impact protection."
Two designs will be available - the "X Protect" and "Extreme Grid" - and each design is offered in both black and yellow. The complete selections of styles and colors can be found at www.g-form.com for $39.95. The cases are available now for pre-order and deliver end of February 2012.
G-Form, the company that puts its electronics cases to the test – the company's Extreme Sleeve for iPad sustained a 500-foot drop from an airplane and a 12-pound bowling ball – well, they've upped the ante by launching an iPad clad solely in the company's 6oz Extreme Edge case into space and then let it free-fall back to Earth.
G-Form released a hi-def video last Thursday where the nearly naked iPad is shown hanging above the Earth in the blackness of space. In the video, the iPad is lifted to over 100,000 feet by a weather balloon which bursts at altitude, then releasing the iPad to free-fall to Earth where it crash lands on a rocky hillside in the Nevada countryside. Perhaps even more remarkable than the dramatic hi-def footage itself is the fact that the iPad survives the adventure, remaining fully functional.
"As far as we know, this is the first iPad ever in space," said G-Form's VP innovations, Thom Cafaro, "And definitely it's the first iPad that's ever free-fallen from space and survived to play more movies. We are usually known for making the most protective gear on the planet," he continued,” so we decided why not raise the bar to off the planet too."
G-Form's at it again! Makers of the ultra-rugged Extreme Sleeve for iPad, the company just announced the Extreme Portfolio for iPad, the first portfolio-style case for tablets featuring RPT(Reactive Protection Technology). RPTabsorbs over 90% of the energy of an impact and stiffens to act like armor, giving your iPad (or other tablet) the ultimate protection.
This lightweight portfolio case is water-resistant and can fit a variety of tablets in addition to the iPad and iPad 2. The case has an adjustable easel stand, an inside pocket for documents, and can be opened and used in several ways. The front cover can be reverse-zipped behind the iPad, which will offer two levels of RPT protection beneath the iPad. In this position the front screen is still protected by beefy RPT corners that also hold it in place. It can also be used in an easel configuration in either landscape or portrait mode. Read more
G-Form's Extreme Sleeve first caught our eye when we saw the YouTube video where a bowling ball is dropped onto an Extreme Sleeve containing an iPad – and absolutely no damage was done to the device! G-Form just announced the second generation – the new iPad Extreme sleeve 2.
This light-weight, flexible, and water-resistant sleeve is constructed entirely out of G-Form's RPT (Reactive Protection Technology) composite material, which absorbs over 90% of the energy of an impact and stiffens to act like armor to protect your iPad. The Extreme Sleeve 2 has all the qualities of the company's original Extreme Sleeve, but now includes an additional RPT edge layer that also runs under the zipper for even more impact absorption. But that's not all. G-Form also expanded the interior, adding more space to better accommodate the iPad 2 with Smart Cover.
"We find that the overwhelming majority of our customers are thrilled with the level of
protection in the smallest possible form factor that the Extreme Sleeve 1 offers," notes
Thom Cafaro, Innovations Manager at G-Form, "In fact we have already received quite
a few emails with stories of the Extreme Sleeve saving customers iPad's from some
pretty nasty potential accidents. However, we also heard that some of our customers
wanted even more protection, especially in the zipper area, and as a company we are
committed to innovating around our customers' feedback". Read more
G-Form first brought us the Extreme Sleeve for iPad – a protective sleeve for iPads that sustained a 500-foot drop from an airplane and a 12-pound bowling ball. Now, G-Form introduces the Extreme Sleeve for Laptops, giving your 11", 13" or 15" laptop protection from impact unlike any other sleeve on the market.
This water-resistant, soft, flexible and lightweight sleeve uses RPT - Reactive Protection Technology - a combination of PORON®XRD™ material and G-Form technology - which instantly stiffens upon impact and absorbs over 90% of the energy.
In true G-Form fashion, this sleeve has been put to the test. Just watch the video above to see a 13" Macbook Pro (encased in the Extreme Sleeve) being dropped from a 20 foot balcony completely unharmed.
The Extreme Sleeve for Laptop is now available for preorder at www.g-form.com in two colors: yellow and black for $69.95. It will ship May 31st.
