TouchFire Screen-Top Keyboard for iPad

 TouchFire typing

TouchFire is the latest in new gadgets, an iPad attachment that will make typing on the iPad feel like a true physical QWERTY keyboard. It fits over the top of the landscape keyboard on either the iPad or the iPad 2, and allows your typing to fly with speeds you'd only get from a traditional keyboard.

The TouchFire is made of a flexible silicone that has a number of micro-structures inserted. What these do is allow you to rest your fingers on the screen without the worry of accidentally pushing a key. When you push a key intentionally, you get the feeling that you are typing on a real keyboard.

TouchFire's co-founders, Steve Isaac and Brad Melon, have been passionate about computing for years. Steve has been in the mobile computing industry since the early 90s. He started his Silicon Valley career in the early days of Sun Microsystems, where he made Sun's NFS an industry standard. He then became one of the first employees at GO Corp, which built one of the world's first tablet computers and a mobile operating system called PenPoint. Unfortunately, GO didn't survive. Steve then went to Microsoft, where he did a number of 1.0 products – Windows CE, Internet Explorer, MSN.com, Active Server Pages and ASP.NET.Read more

Razer Launches BlackWidow Stealth Edition Mechanical Gaming Keyboards

 Razer Blackwidow Ultimate Stealth Edition

Razer, a high-end precision gaming brand, has announced the Razer BlackWidow Stealth Edition mechanical gaming keyboards. Both the Ultimate and Standard versions of this hardcore mechanical keyboard have been refitted with a keyset that offers tactility but with a quieter feedback for the true silent assassins of gaming.

The Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Edition also comes with extreme anti-ghosting. This is an improvement over the traditional anti-ghosting matrix when it allows up to 6 simultaneous key presses anywhere on the keyset.

"Where the first Razer BlackWidow can be likened to a barbarian ploughing through enemies with ease, the Stealth Edition of this mechanical keyboard is the ninja who sneaks up on opponents unexpectedly to take them down in a quick blur," said Robert "RazerGuy" Krakoff, President, Razer USA. "Quieter feedback on the keys, lighter actuation force, extreme anti-ghosting on the Ultimate version, and a new matte black finish make the Stealth Edition of the Razer BlackWidow keyboards the best choice for the unassuming but extremely deadly gamer."Read more

SmartFish Engage: the World's Most Intelligent Keyboard

 SmartFish Engage Keyboard

I am a huge fan of the ErgoMotion mouse from SmartFish, so I was happy to hear that the company now has an anti-fatigue keyboard. A 2011 Best of Innovations Honoree, the Engage Keyboard is the first automated keyboard designed for "the ultimate comfort typing experience."

Different from traditional keyboards, the Engage Keyboard features a patented motion system that studies your typing frequency and makes subtle, comfortable adjustments periodically so your hands and wrists are never in a fixed position while you work. How cool is that?!

"Most so-called 'comfort products' tend to differentiate themselves through radical forms and shapes, but they still limit movement by placing the hands and wrists in a static position." said Dr. Jack Atzmon, President and CEO of Smartfish Technologies. "Engage ensures movement in the user's typing experience which is crucial for increasing flexibility, circulation and alleviating stress and pain."Read more
