Seagate's GoFlex Slim Portable Hard Drive is World's Slimmest

 Seagate GoFlex Slim

Wow…talk about skinny! Seagate's new GoFlex Slim portable hard drive is about the width of a pencil, measuring in at a mere 9mm, 2.5–inches. Designed with ultra-thin laptops and netbooks in mind, the GoFlex Slim is 38 percent leaner than the current GoFlex ultra–portable drives and features a 7200RPM drive and USB3.0, offering transfer speeds up to 10x faster than USB2.0. Backup software is also included.

The new GoFlex Slim can be used with Windows and Mac computers interchangeably, with absolutely no performance loss. However, Seagate will also be offering a version specifically for Mac OS X computers. The GoFlex Slim for Mac portable drive will be HFS+ formatted out–of–the–box, making it compatible with Apple Time Machine backup software, while still being able to work across both Windows and Mac OS X computers.

The new GoFlex Slim portable hard drive is available now on www.seagate.com. A 320GB version GoFlex Slim sells for $99.99. The 320GB version of the GoFlex Slim for Mac drive will be available in May at Apple Stores for $99.
