Nikon D5100 DSLR and ME-1 External Mic Coming Later This Month

Nikon on Tuesday announced the Nikon D5100, a D-SLR camera packed with a 16.2-megapixel CMOS sensor, a 3.0-inch swing out vari-angle LCD and full HD movie recording with full-time autofocus. The camera offers a new Effects Mode that can be used when taking digital stills or also when you're recording movies. Special effects include Night Vision, Color Sketch, Miniature Effect and Selective Color.

In addition to the new Effect Mode, features include full manual controls (P,S,A,M on the mode dial), D-Movie with Full HD (1080p, 24/30p) with Full-Time AF and stereo sound, 11-point AF system including a cross-type sensor, Live View with Auto Scene Selector, built-in HDR, NEF (RAW) processing, and ISO sensitivity of 100-6400 (expandable to 25,600 ISO). The camera offers 4 frames per second (fps) high-speed continuous shooting, along with variable frame rates and resolutions for movies. It can record 1080p at 24 or 30fps or 720p resolution at either 24 or 30 fps for up to 20 minutes per clip, in the AVC-HD H.264 codec.Read more
