Best Buy Extends Free Buy Back Program on Smartphones

 Best Buy Buy Back Program

Best Buy announced this week that they are extending their Buy Back Program through February 26 on smartphone purchases at Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile standalone stores. As part of the special offer, Best Buy is also offering the Buy Back Program at no cost when purchasing tablets, (even the iPad) – but only at Best Buy Mobile standalone stores.

The Buy Back Program can be purchased by customers when buying a new product at Best Buy and redeemed at a later time for up to 50 percent of the original purchase price paid in the form of a Best Buy gift card, as long as the device is in good working condition and includes all original parts. For smartphone purchases, customers receive the percentage back of the original retail price, prior to any specific carrier-based rebates. So if a customer buys a Nexus S and decides to upgrade in five months, they would get up to half of the $530 original retail price, or up to $265 back, to use towards their next smartphone purchase. Best Buy Buy Back Program

Last month Best Buy announced their new Buy Back Program, allowing consumers to return purchases made on select electronics within 2 years of purchase (4 years for TVs), and in return, receive a Best Buy gift card to use towards another purchase. This program comes at a price though - for example, Buy Back protection for a laptop is $69.99. But now through Saturday, February 12 Best Buy is offering their Buy Back protection at no cost.

Best Buy customers may purchase the Buy Back Program when buying a new product at Best Buy and redeem it at a later time, for up to 50 percent of the original purchase price paid in the form of a Best Buy gift card, as long as the device is in good working condition and includes all original parts.

"We have abundant evidence that one of the biggest barriers to buying new tech devices today is fear of obsolescence," said Brian Dunn, chief executive officer of Best Buy. "We don't think that should get in the way of benefiting from all that today's technology has to offer. So to celebrate the arrival of this program, we're offering it free on everything from mobile phones and laptops, to tablets and TVs. The Buy Back Program is not only unprecedented for Best Buy, but we believe it can transform CE retailing as we know it today." Read more
