Samsung has added a new tablet to its lineup, right before the 2012 Mobile World Congress. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is a new 7-inch tablet similar in size to the original Galaxy Tab. It runs Google's latest version of Android, however, and features a lot of improvements compared to Samsung's first tablet.

Highlights include a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, a 3-megapixel camera, a VGA front-facing camera, a 4,000 mAh battery and either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. Samsung has also included the latest version of its TouchWiz UI on top of Android 4.0, adding a unique twist to Google's latest OS.

The 7-inch WSVGA display has a resolution of 1024×600, and sports PLS TFT & LCD technology. It also has Wi-Fi, a VGA camera on the front, HSPA+ support, Bluetooth 3.0, A-GPS, a microSD card slot and a whopping 4,000mAh battery.Read more

Can you keep up with all the tablets hitting the marketplace these days? This week, Samsung announced yet another Galaxy Tab, this one sporting a smaller size, the Galaxy Tab 8.9. Available for pre-order now, it joins the Galaxy Tab 10.1 as the thinnest mobile tablets currently available in the United States, measuring in at just 8.6 millimeters.

The Galaxy Tab 8.9 runs Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) and comes packed with a dual-core T250S processor, WXGA TFT display (1280x800 resolution) capable of 1080p video playback, a rear-facing 3-megapixel camera and a front-facing 2-megapixel camera (with flash and autofocus).

The Galaxy Tab 8.9 also comes with apps and Samsung-built features such as Samsung's Media Hub and Music Hub, a Readers Hub for eBooks, and a Social Hub that syncs email delivery to a single inbox and integrates social-networking accounts such as Facebook. Read more

Best Buy this week announced a deal for tablet and TV enthusiasts: Starting this Sunday, August 21, with the purchase of select Samsung HDTVs, Best Buy will throw in a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 for free. The offer is the latest in Best Buy's Perfect Match Promise and is valid through Saturday, August 27, 2011.

The deal allows customers to purchase a Samsung 46-inch Class LED 1080p Smart 3D HDTV for $1499.99 and receive a 16 GB Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Customers can also step up to a 55" Samsung TV with a 3D Starter Kit for only $1999.99. The offer is valid August 21 – August 27 only.

On Monday we told you about the HP Pavilion dm1-3010nr Entertainment PC – Verizon's first 4G LTE notebook. That's not all Verizon has up its sleeve. The company also announced its first-ever 4G LTE tablet – the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Available today in either Metallic Gray or Glossy White, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with 4G LTE is priced at $529.99 for the 16GB model and $629.99 for the 32GB model (plus monthly data plan).

Samsung Mobile announced this week that American Airlines will offer Galaxy Tab 10.1 mobile tablets for premium class in-flight entertainment.

American Airlines plans to deploy 6,000 of the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 devices onboard select flights beginning later this year. The tablets will be in American's premium cabins on flights between New York's JFK and Los Angeles, JFK and San Francisco, and Miami and Los Angeles served with 767-200 and 767-300 aircraft; international flights to and from Europe and South America served with 767-300 aircraft; and transcontinental flights departing from Boston to Los Angeles served with 757 aircraft.

"Through our agreement with Samsung, American is the first North American airline to offer a branded tablet onboard its aircraft," said Virasb Vahidi, American's Chief Commercial Officer. "We are working hard to revitalize our fleet and invest wisely in new products and services to modernize and enhance the travel experience. Samsung has announced that it's Wi-Fi only Galaxy Tab will be available at multiple retail stores and Web sites April 10, 2011 for $349.99. You can see a complete list of stores at www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab .

The Galaxy Tab is powered by the Android 2.2 platform and has a 7-inch TFT display with a 1024 x 600 resolution. It weighs just 13 ounces, is 12 millimeters thin and includes 16 GB of internal storage and offers microSD expansion to allow for up to 32 GB of additional storage.
