Canon today announced two new PowerShot digital cameras, the PowerShot G12 – featuring 720p HD video capability and High Dynamic Range (HDR); and the PowerShot SX30 IS - the first point-and-shoot model with a 35X-Wide Angle Optical Zoom lens with Optical Image Stabilization.

The PowerShot G12 features a 2.8-inch vari-angle LCD display, 5X-Optical Zoom lens with Optical Image Stabilization and wide-angle capabilities starting at 28mm, and is the first PowerShot G-series model to record 720p HD video. It also includes a High Dynamic Range (HDR) scene mode and Canon's Hybrid IS technology which reduces camera shake. A new control dial has also been added to the front of the camera. Read more
