Motorola and Verizon Wireless officially announced today that the DROID 2 will be available for preorder August 11 at www.verizonwireless.com and in Verizon stores on August 12.
The DROID 2 comes loaded with Android 2.2 and features an improved QWERTY keyboard, 3.7-inch multitouch display, 5 megapixel camera, 1GHz processor, Adobe Flash Player, 3G Mobile Hotspot ($20 extra a month), push corporate e-mail, DLNA streaming, 8GB of onboard memory and an 8GB microSD card.
Verizon Wireless will also offer a limited-edition R2-D2 DROID 2, available only online in September. This version will feature Star Wars content and external hardware designed to look like the Astromech Droid from the film saga.
