Black Friday Weekend Deals Start Early at Borders

Borders today unveiled a ton of Black Friday deals on bestselling titles, toys and games, music and DVDs — as well as eReaders priced as low as $89.99. The bargains begin today, Wednesday, Nov. 24 and will run through Sunday, Nov. 28.

Are you a Borders Rewards loyalty program member? Members can save big with a 50-percent-off in-store coupon that can be used on thousands of items today, Nov. 24. Borders will also have a 50% off coupon found in newspaper inserts, which can be used in stores beginning Black Friday through Sunday. The insert also includes a 40-percent-off-any-one-kids'-toy-or-game coupon, and a coupon for a free medium latte or medium brewed coffee redeemable Friday. (Borders Rewards members will also receive the 40-percent-off-kids-toys-and-games coupon and the coffee coupon in a Thursday Rewards email.)

Borders also announced additional Black Friday promotions, with no coupon required. These offers begin today and are available all weekend in stores nationwide and on Borders.com (unless otherwise noted).Read more

Earlier this week Borders announced its new eBook Store, and beginning today the company is offering five free top-selling books (valued at more than $40!) to anyone who downloads a free Borders application. The app, powered by Kobo, can be downloaded on the iPad, iPhone, a variety of BlackBerry and Android devices, as well as your desktop. The offer is valid from Friday, July 9 through Sunday July, 11 only.

The free titles include Dean Koontz's "Frankenstein: Prodigal Son," "One Shot" by Lee Child, "The Alchemyst by Michael Scott, Julia Child's "Kitchen Wisdom" and "Master your Metabolism" by Jillian Michaels. Borders is also offering exclusive content readers can currently find nowhere else — chapter 6 of Danielle Steele's upcoming novel "Legacy," which hits shelves Sept. 28. Read more

$150 Kobo eReader Coming in June

Borders is jumping into the eReader game with the new Kobo eReader. Pre-loaded with the Borders eBook app, you can access eBooks wirelessly via Bluetooth or USB. The Kobo eReader also comes pre-loaded with 100 classic books and features 1GB memory to store up to 1000 eBooks.

The Kobo eReader features a quilted back, is just 10mm thick and weighs only 221 grams. Five font sizes are available, and up to a 4GB SD memory card can be added for storing up to 4000 eBooks.
