New Cisco Linksys E4200 v2 Router Touts 450Mbps Dual-Band Speeds

 Linksys E4200 v2 Maximum Performance Dual-Band N900

Linksys on Tuesday released its new flagship wireless-n router - the E4200 v2. Great for large or multi-room homes, it offers greater wireless coverage; better wireless networking speeds on the 2.4 GHz band, plus a faster processor for speedier downloads from a USB connected storage device. But that's not all - Linksys also introduced new mobile apps, allowing you to control your wireless network from your mobile device.

The new Linksys E4200 v2 Maximum Performance Dual-Band N900 wireless-n router provides wireless networking speeds up to 450 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band and up to 450 Mbps in the 5.0 GHz band, and is powerful enough to handle all your home network can throw at it – whether its streaming HD video, music downloads or multi-player gaming.

New features:

  • Wireless performance up to 900 Mbps: 3X3 spatial streams are now included on both the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz band for faster wireless speeds up to 450 Mbps in each band
  • Improved CPU to include a 1.2 GHz processor: Faster USB hard drive disk performance for streaming videos, music or photos.

The Linksys E4200 v2 features internal and external amplifiers, along with six antennas which reduces dead spots and improves your home network coverage. In addition, the virtual USB feature makes it easy to add printers, storage and other USB devices to the network. As with all Linksys E-Series routers, Cisco Connect software is included for easy setup and network management for Macs and PCs. Read more

Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N Bridge Connects All Your Home Entertainment Gear

 Linksys WES610N Wireless-N Dual-Band Entertainment Bridge

The list of wireless-enabled products continues to grow, especially in the home theater department. Cisco has a new Wireless-N Dual-Band Bridge that will allow you to connect multiple wireless home entertainment devices to the Internet, while supercharging the signal for high quality wireless streaming of 3D/HD media.

The new Linksys WES610N Wireless-N Dual-Band Entertainment Bridge offers a high-speed wireless connection up to 300 Mbps and its multiple antennas provide excellent range. You can connect up to four devices to the unit's four Ethernet ports, and, because it is dual-band, the bridge operates in either the 2.4 or 5 GHz radio bands to avoid interference. Quality of Service (QoS) also prioritizes traffic for smooth video viewing, music streaming and gaming performance, and a Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) button makes it easy to pair with your wireless router.

The Linksys WES610N Wireless-N Dual-Band Entertainment Bridge is now available for $129.99. Cisco recommends pairing the bridges with a Dual Band-N Router like the Linksys E2500, E3200 or E4200, but it also works with other a/b/g/n wireless routers.

Game Developer's Conference: Day 2

 Panasonic 3DTV

The bad thing about events in Northern California is that there are always a number of them going on in the tech industry and usually they have a knack to overlap.

Take today.

Yes GDC is still on but then down in San Jose is a two-day OTTCon (over the top conference) taking place. No biggie you say but these are the guys/gals who are going give us a hint on what we'll be watching, where we'll be watching it, how we'll be watching it.

Affects the way you work with games too!

OTTCon Snapshot

These folks have a huge challenge ahead of them. They're busting each other's chops trying to figure out exactly what tomorrow's TV entertainment is going to be like especially since people seem to want to push it to every screen you have (and even will be thinking about).

That's not so bad but they're really trying to figure out how they're going to get their money out of it! And how does it fit into/compete in the YouTube online spectrum? It does!

They were an energetic crowd but the first thing you realize is that they don't have any better idea where TV is going than you do…but they say it with confidence/conviction so it "feels" so!Read more
