Volvo Intros Backseat Wireless Entertainment System

 2010 Volvo XC70

This week at the Chicago Auto Show Volvo showed off the first Internet-connected rear entertainment system featuring a touchscreen PC running Windows XP, along with WiFi, a 500GB hard drive, and 3G connectivity.

Currently a concept, the RSEi-500 system will let you surf the Internet via a WiFi signal or a 3G data card, so you can check your email, download music, watch TV and movies, and even connect your vehicle to your home computer to allow the transfer of video, audio and other home data content to the vehicle's on board computer.

Using Gracenote technology, you can navigate your music collections by mood, see lyrics, artist biographies and reviews as music is playing. The system can also identify and retrieve information for music currently playing on the AM/FM/Satellite radio and then download those tracks directly to the entertainment system. Read more
