Review: Motorola Droid 4

 Motorola DROID 4

The Motorola DROID 4 ($200 with a two-year contract on Verizon) is the latest keyboarded version of the DROID family. And while DROID hasn't had a big push on the keyboard-style designs, this one takes the grand prize in terms of usability and function.

The DROID 4 reminds you of the DROID RAZR, except significantly thicker, measuring in at 2.75 by 4.98 by 0.50-inches. It packs two cameras: a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, and an 8-megapixel camera on the back. Button-wise, it doesn't have much...that is besides the enormous physical keyboard. Only a volume rocker and a power button remain as extra hard navigation buttons. The battery is not user-removable, and the SIM and MicroSD card slots sit inside the phone.

Star Rating: four stars
Cost: ($200 with a two-year contract on Verizon)
Where to Buy: Amazon, Verizon Wireless

The full QWERTY keyboard is the best on the market. You can type on it with extreme accuracy, and I might add, quickly as well. The keys have a slight bump on their surface and they're spaced out well. This makes typing a lot more comfortable.Read more

Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX Review (video)

 DROID RAZR MAXX

Let me start by saying that this is my new favorite phone. In short, the MAXX is the DROID RAZR with an extended battery, and despite that it's doubled its battery life, the Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX still maintains a very slim, attractive, and durable design with the same gorgeous display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and fast Verizon 4G/LTE data speeds like its predecessor. It also has a lot of multimedia and security features to boot, and proves that a powerful Android superphone can remain thin yet still provide a ton of battery life.

Star Rating: five stars
Cost: $199-$299 on contract
Where to buy: Amazon, Verizon

As mentioned, it's really the exact same device as the DROID RAZR, which was introduced just a few short months ago, but with a gigantic 3300mAh battery that fills out the original RAZR's distinctive scooped back. This selling feature alone sets it apart from the rest of the Android crop, considering the problems of power-hungry dual-core processors and first-gen LTE chipsets. The MAXX's battery life is nothing short of astounding for a dual-core LTE phone.Read more

Upcoming Motorola DROID Fighter

 Motorola DROID Fighter

An image of what could be the unannounced DROID Fighter has published on PhoneHK, a Chinese forum. The handset is said to be equipped with the same whopping 3,300 mAh battery that is found in the RAZR MAXX, and a 4.6-inch high-definition display. The image of the phone also shows that the Android navigation buttons that appear on the RAZR model is no longer present, leading speculation that the Fighter will use the on-screen buttons found in Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Hopefully the Droid Fighter will see a boost in CPU performance as well. Motorola has been sticking with Texas Instruments processors lately, so there's a chance this could be one of the first phones with the new dual-core 1.8 GHz OMAP4470 that features the faster PowerVR SGX544 GPU.

Details surrounding the smartphone are limited, and it isn't known if this will be a completely new device some iteration of the RAZR. The Fighter is rumored to land on Verizon's 4G LTE network on April 12th.Read more

Motorola Droid RAZR Review

 Motorola DROID RAZR

The Motorola DROID RAZR is being touted as the latest flagship phone from Verizon, and for good reason. The company is claiming that it is the thinnest smartphone to date, and we can't argue with that. This thing is wafer-thin, but that does not slow down its performance or features. In fact, this sucker is very robust, durable and just plain cool.

The DROID RAZR is a descendant from the RAZR family introduced back in 2004. But this ain't your grandmother's phone. It runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) with lightning speed, has a very good battery life, and if you drop it, the Kevlar back panel will protect its internals.

Star Rating: five stars
Cost: $111 to $299 on contract
