Boston Acoustics this month added a new member to its SoundWare loudspeaker family - the SoundWare S Home Theater Speaker System. This 5.1 surround sound speaker system is a step-up from the company's SoundWare XS 5.1 and consists of five SoundWare S satellites and a compact subwoofer.

Small but powerful, each of the 5 true two-way satellite speakers measure less than 4 inches and feature 3½-inch (65mm) mid-bass drivers and ¾-inch dome tweeters, while the subwoofer measures in at 10-inches and offers 200-watts (300-watt Peak) of power. If desired, two additional satellite speakers can be added (sold separately) to create 6.1 or 7.1 channel surround sound systems.

The new SoundWare S speakers also tout the following "Smart" features:

• Distinct SoundWare polyhedron shape for virtually unlimited placement options
• Stealth articulating mounting brackets allow the speakers to be hung flush on a wall, or tucked away in a corner while allowing the speaker to be angled towards the main listening area
• Powered subwoofer features Boston's Patented BassTrac circuitry for clear undistorted bass at all listening levels and includes both speaker level inputs and outputs and a line level out, providing consumers with the easiest, most flexible setup
• Miniaturized authentic 2-way satellite system for true full range sound
• Satellites feature dual wire channels for easy connections, with rear panel wire grooves for easier hook-up
• MagnaGuard magnetic shielding

Available in Black Walnut finish, the new Classic Series II models include the CS 260 II 6-1/2" 2-Way Floorstanding Loudspeaker, CS 225C II 2-Way Dual 5-1/4" Center Channel, CS 26 II 2-Way 6-1/2" Bookshelf, CS23 II 2-Way 3-1/2" Compact Bookshelf, and CS Sub10 II 100-watt 10" Down-Firing DCD Subwoofer. This week at CES, Boston Acoustics announced that its TVee Model 30 Soundbar and Wireless Subwoofer System is expected to be available in March 2011. The TVee Model 30 is a 3.1-channel virtual surround sound speaker system designed to turn your TV into a total home entertainment system - using just a slim soundbar and wireless subwoofer.

Sized for flat-panel TVs 40" or larger, the TVee Model 30 features one-wire analog or optical digital hookup, Dolby Digital decoding (via the system's digital input), a dedicated center channel, and offers Bluetooth support for streaming music from your iPad, iPod touch or any other Bluetooth device.

The TVee Model 30 has two modes - "stereo mode" for listening to music, and "virtual surround" for TV, movies and gaming. Just announced are three new Classic Series wireless-ready subwoofers featuring built-in wireless receivers. They include the 8" 200-watt (350-watt Peak) CPS 8Wi, 10" 300-watt (650-watt Peak) CPS 10Wi and 12" 400-watt (850-watt Peak) CPS 12Wi.

Boston Acoustics' new Duo-i plus AM/FM Stereo Radio with iPhone/iPod Connectivity is an enhanced version of their Duo-i. The new "plus" model has all the features of the Duo-i, but has a high-gloss black or high-gloss white finish with matching metal grilles. It will be available in October 2009 for $249.99.

The Duo-i plus includes a remote to control the music on your iPod/iPhone when it is connected to the dock. It also has Works With iPhone certification so you can receive calls when your iPhone is docked and be assured that there will be minimal cell phone interference. An AM/FM radio is included and you can connect additional media players using one of the two auxiliary inputs. A composite video output lets you watch iPhone/iPod video content on your TV, and the unit has stereo headphone outputs as well.
