Atlantic Technology Outs SB-900DF Down-Firing Subwoofer

 Atlantic Technology SB-900DF

One of Atlantic Technology's most popular subwoofers is the SB-900, a front-firing model. This week, the company announced a new down-firing version - the SB-900DF. Because the woofer and bass vent are located on the bottom of the cabinet, the subwoofer can be placed in tight spots behind furniture without you having to worry about hearing muffled sound.

Measuring 10-7/8 inches wide, 13-1/8 inches high and 13-1/16 inches deep, the SB-900DF is pretty small. But don't let it's size fool you. It packs in an 8-inch long-excursion woofer, a tuned bass port and 125-watt power amplifier, capable of delivering a peak output of 102 dB SPL in a 2000 cubic foot room and a frequency response for 32 to 200 Hz, ±3 dB.

Additional features include an adjustable crossover control, a built-in crossover bypass, proprietary distortion-detection circuitry and auto-on sensing which saves power.Read more

On the outside you'll notice that the enclosure and grilles have a new look, and it now includes both keyhole and threaded inserts for easy mounting. One thing that hasn't changed - the FS-7.1 has seven speaker-level inputs for direct connection to a seven-channel home theater receiver, just like its predecessor.Read more

Atlantic Technology Unveils 7-Channel Sound Bar for Home Theater

Atlantic Technology FS-7.0 Surround Bar and SB-800 Subwoofer

At CEDIA last week, Atlantic Technology introduced the world's first seven-channel sound bar home theater speaker system. The new FS-7.0 Surround Bar is the first loudspeaker that can reproduce all seven channels of a home theater soundtrack in a single 40-inch wide enclosure. In addition to the FS-7.0 Surround Bar, the company also introduced the SB-800, an 8-inch subwoofer designed for use with the FS-7.0.

The speaker includes three 1-inch soft dome tweeters, each of which handles the upper frequencies for one of the front LCR channels. Also on the front panel are a pair of 4x6-inch woofers, featuring dual voice coils which reproduce all three of the front soundstage channels' upper bass and midrange reproduction. The left driver reproduces the left front channel and half of the center channel, and the right driver handles the right front channel and the other half of the center channel. The LCR treble is handled by the three 1-inch tweeters. Read more
