Bowers & Wilkins P3 Headphones

 Bowers & Wilkins P3 Headphones

When it comes to professional music listening, fans are somewhat divided when it comes to sound. Some like sound reproduction, while others demand that a good sound should have the look to match. If you belongs to the latter camp, then there's good news. A more affordable version of the B&W P5 Headphones, known as the P3, is coming to you this June.

Priced $100 cheaper than the P5, the P3 does suffer from some trimmings such as fabric-wrapped ear cups instead of sheepskin leather, and 30mm drivers as opposed to the 40mm drivers found on the P5s. Having said that, however, you will still get the same sleek aluminum design, but with the added advantage of foldability for ease of storage and transportation.Read more

Bowers & Wilkins PM1: Small Speakers that Deliver Heavenly Sound

 Bowers & Wilkins PM1

Bowers & Wilkins consistently deliver some of the best sounding high performance speakers available today. And that's not just coming from us. Consumers, along with audiophiles around the world praise the sound quality and craftsmanship of B&W's speakers. Worthy of this praise are the company's latest compact loudspeakers, the PM1.

Designed to be used with your HiFi audio system, the PM1 sports an all-new Carbon Based Tweeter and a striking cabinet design that screams luxury with its Nautilus tube-loaded tweeter on top, curved baffle and Mocha Gloss wood panels.

But let's get back to the technology. The new Carbon Braced Tweeter features an aluminium dome that has been stiffened with a ring made of filament-wound ultra high modulus pitch based carbon fiber. This construction raises the break up frequency of the aluminium dome up to 40kHz for an improvement in audible frequencies below 20kHz. The technology doesn't end there. The PM1 also touts Kevlar cone bass and midrange drivers with new Anti-Resonance Plugs, a mineral loaded resin baffle, oxygen free copper terminals, Mundorf M-Cap Supreme Oil capacitors, and a Matrix bracing system – all working together to deliver smooth, refined sound.Read more

Bowers & Wilkins Gets Social: Launches the Zeppelin Air App

 Zeppelin Air App iPad playlist

Bowers & Wilkins this week announced the new Zeppelin Air App, the world's first iOS AirPlay app. Built for use with the company's Zeppelin Air speaker dock (but can be used with any Apple AirPlay device), the app builds a social music community playlist by bringing iTunes libraries from multiple iOS devices together wirelessly. What does this mean? You can have your iPad, your friend can use his iPhone, someone else can bring along their iPod touch - and the iTunes content from each device joins together, allowing you to build a customized, community playlist, which is streamed to any AirPlay-enabled music player.

The playlist is managed on your iOS device, where it can be edited before sending tunes wirelessly to your music player. No Mac or PC is needed to use the app; only a Wi-Fi network. Available now, you can download the free Zeppelin Air App from iTunes.

"There are many fantastic mobile apps that allow you to stream music, but the Zeppelin Air App is the first of its kind that enables users to share music and create collaborative playlists with friends, mobile device to mobile device," said Paul McCarthy, of app developer Aurnhammer. "Bowers & Wilkins has essentially created a wireless, virtual jukebox."

Bowers & Wilkins CWM362 grill off

When it comes to high performance in-wall and in-ceiling speakers, you can count on Bowers & Wilkins to deliver the goods. Just announced is the CI 300 series, a new entry-level line of speakers for the custom installation market, giving those on a budget the chance to experience B&W's legendary sound. And experience it, they will. Just look at what Doug Henderson, V.P. Sales & Marketing had to say, "Our high-value, high-performance in-wall and in-ceiling CI 300 speakers are entry-level in price only. The same acoustic and industrial design teams that created the higher-end ranges, led by Dr. John Dibb, developed the CI 300 models. From sound quality to installation mechanics, the CI 300s are extremely well-executed designs that have no peers at their price points."

The CI 300 series consists of three models: the CWM362, CCM362, and CCM382. The CCM362 is an in-ceiling model with a 6-inch polypropylene cone bass/midrange driver and a 1-inch soft-dome tweeter. The CCM382 is a larger in-ceiling speaker with the same 1-inch soft dome tweeter but with an 8-inch bass/midrange driver to provide deeper bass and higher sensitivity. The CWM362 is a two-way, in-wall speaker based on the CCM362's driver set.

All three speakers are available in round and square grille options and are shipping July 2011.

Bowers & Wilkins Unveil the C5 In-Ear Headphones

 Bowers & Wilkins C5

Bowers & Wilkins, well known by music lovers and audiophiles alike for their high-end speakers, just announced the C5 in-ear, noise-isolating headphones. Not for your average consumer, the C5 headphones are for those who want nothing but the best when it comes to performance.

Featuring a Secure Loop design, the C5 headphones comfortably stay in place while delivering the natural, realistic sound Bowers & Wilkins is known for. This "wonderfully open" sound is thanks to the proprietary Micro Porous Filter which acts as a diffuser to deliver better quality audio.

To aid in noise isolation, the headphones have a Tungsten Balanced design, where weighted material is placed closer to the ear for an improved seal. The end result? Better sound, fit and noise isolation.

Additional features of the Bowers & Wilkins C5 headphones include a remote/microphone for iOS devices. They will ship in August for $179.95 and come with a quilted pouch for storage.

Bowers & Wilkins Launches Sound Sessions

 Tinie Tempah

As much as we love Bowers & Wilkins home theater speakers and personal audio gear, we just had to give this a plug! The company just launched Sound Sessions – a series of intimate, VIP-only listening events where a renowned musician will gather with a very small group of fans to celebrate and listen to their newly released album, played through the world's most accurate loudspeakers.

He’s now experiencing a major breakthrough in America, where his infectious, message-driven single "Written In the Stars" was recently hailed by Entertainment Weekly as one of the "next big hits of 2011". The song is currently number 13 and climbing on Billboard's Hot 100, and is already certified gold and climbing to platinum status, making it clear that Tinie Tempah is on his way to becoming the first British rapper to achieve major stardom in the U.S. Read more

Bowers & Wilkins Unveils the Best Zeppelin Yet: Zeppelin Air

Zeppelin Air with iPad and iMac

Bowers & Wilkins raised the bar for iPod speaker systems three years ago with the Zeppelin. Now they bring us the Zeppelin Air, completely redesigned with a new digital signal processor, two extra drivers, and, as you would expect with "Air" in the product's name, it comes fully integrated with Apple's AirPlay technology, allowing you to stream music wirelessly from iTunes, your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. B&W even bumped up the wattage to 150 (the original Zeppelin was 100).

Bowers & Wilkins tells us this is "the best sounding Zeppelin yet," with its fully active 2.1 design (all five units are driven by dedicated amplifiers), improved 4x25W + 1x50W output and updated drive units. But the addition of AirPlay is the real kicker here. Other than wirelessly streaming your music, AirPlay also lets you create a multi-room system with iTunes on your Mac or PC, delivering music to multiple Zeppelin Airs around your house. Read more
