Comcast is giving Netflix a run for their money with Xfinity Streampix, a new subscription video service that is launching this week for Comcast customers. Streampix will allow Xfinity video customers to instantly view over 75,000 movies and TV shows via an iPad, iPhone, PC and Mac, with Android and Xbox 360 support available in the coming year.
In addition to current video-on-demand content, Steampix will give Xfinity customers access to complete past seasons of television series like 30 Rock, The Office or Grey's Anatomy and movies like When Harry Met Sally, Ocean's Eleven and Brokeback Mountain.
At launch, Comcast's programming partners include the Disney-ABC Television Group, NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros. Digital Distribution and Cookie Jar Entertainment.
"Xfinity TV is a one-stop source for the most video entertainment on any screen and it just keeps getting better," said Marcien Jenckes, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Video Services, Comcast. "Our goal is to consistently deliver greater value to our customers and to bring the best anytime, anywhere entertainment on multiple platforms. Streampix is another step moving TV Everywhere forward by giving customers access to an even greater library of popular choices to watch." Read more
