Review: FURminator deShedding Tool

FURminator deShedding Tool used on a Husky

I bought my first FURminator at my vet's office a few months ago. The receptionist from whom I bought it said that she had not had any experience with it herself, but because it was being sold at a veterinary office, I took a chance and bought it anyway. I tried it out on my long haired German Shepherd Collie mix that night. Wow! It actually works! It works much, much better than any of the other shedding tools we have bought over the years. In fact, I never used any of the other tools very often because they did not seem to have much effect. The FURminator does. I was amazed at how much hair it removed.

My first FURminator has a single row of teeth. Recently I obtained what I call the Furminator II because it has two rows of teeth (the actual name is the FURminator Double Edge deShedding Tool). The one with two rows works a little faster than the single row version and is a little more expensive. The Furminator II does require the user to remove hair buildup from between the two rows of teeth a little more often than the single row version. I feel confident that either version will work much better than any other shedding tool you are likely to find. I heartily recommend the FURminator. It is effective and it's fun.Read more
