Sony Announces $99 Toy Story 3: The Video Game PS2 Bundle

Toy Story 3: The Video Game PS2 Bundle

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the PlayStation 2, Sony last week announced a limited edition Toy Story 3: The Video Game bundle for the PlayStation 2 system. The bundle is priced at $99 and includes the PS2 system (console, 1 wired controller) and Toy Story 3: The Video Game. It will be available on October 31, 2010.

Not a bad price at $99 considering the PS2 has a library of more than 2,000 games (which can be bought pretty cheap, I might add) and, of course, it also acts as a DVD player. You can get yours at participating retailers nationwide on October 31, 2010.

Visit www.playstation.com for more information on the PlayStation 2 and Toy Story 3: The Video Game.

Are Game Consoles the Worst Home Energy Wasters?

 Are Game Consoles Energy Wasters?

Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3 have powerful graphics engines with millions of transistors running at super fast clock cycles. Unfortunately, they both suck down large amounts of power. The Nintendo Wii, on the other hand, uses a mere 19 watts of power but according to Greenpeace is manufactured with many environmentally questionable materials. The good news is that both Sony and Microsoft now offer auto-power down modes on their consoles to help save energy. The bad news is that consoles come with auto-power saving mode disabled and as if that wasn't bad enough, almost half the console owners in a recent Retrevo Gadgetology study said they don't know if it is on or off.

Console Owners Making Up for Manufacturer's Shortcomings

The Retrevo Gadgetology study asked game console owners how diligent they are about shutting down their consoles when they are not using them and whether or not the power saving mode was enabled. We were pleased to see how many console owners indicated that they don't leave their units powered on when not in use but were disappointed by the number of consoles that may not have the auto-power saving mode enabled. In other words, console manufacturers have not done a very good job of implementing their power saving modes but fortunately many console owners have taken it upon themselves to turn their consoles off when not in use.Read more

FIFA 10 Dated and Detailed

 FIFA 10 screenshot

Launching October 2nd, FIFA 10 will be available on the DS, PC, 360, PS3, PS2, PSP and Wi.

Here are some improvements:

  • FIFA 10 promises to get rid of a few glitches found in 09: specifically, every once in a while, some players will do this weird backpedaling movement and get kind of "stuck" on the ball.
  • Some of 09's star players, like Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o and Manchester United's Christiano Ronaldo, among others, have been retooled, knocking them from "Godlike Supermen" to "normal dudes that happen to be good at kicking."
  • Team defensive A.I. has also been improved across all platforms.
  • EA Canada has also included a new, "360°" dribbling system, not sure how it will be different from the previous years, but it should be decent at least.
  • Training Mode is back! So if you need help on your corner kicks or free kicks, then you can practice outside of a game.
