The Bridge on the River Kwai

"We can teach these barbarians a lesson in Western methods and efficiency that will put them to shame." Col Nicholson, "The Bridge on the River Kwai," Columbia Pictures (1957)

 T-Mobile Plan Comparison

T-Mobile's New Value plans are slated to launch today, giving new and existing customers a range of price points for talk, unlimited text and unlimited data with 2 GB, 5 GB or 10 GB of high-speed data — with no data overage charges.

Under T-Mobile's new value plans, customers will be able to purchase a new smartphone by making a down payment and then paying off the balance over time, interest free.

For example, T-Mobile's new Value family plan with unlimited talk, unlimited text and unlimited data with 2 GB of high-speed data is $49.99 per line for two lines. Even with the addition of purchasing two smartphones, such as the T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide, on T-Mobile's Equipment Installment Plan, the company says that customers will save around $800 annually.

In addition to the unlimited Value plans, T-Mobile also said they will introduce new Value plans for small business customers this summer with additional details available in the coming weeks.

According to a recent study by Best Buy Mobile, more than half of American mobile phone owners do not know the month and year when their current mobile phone contract expires. Best Buy Mobile wants to help you understand your contract situation. They recently launched an Upgrade Checker campaign at www.BestBuy.com/Mobile that provides resources to help you make shopping decisions. Best Buy Mobile's free online Upgrade Checker application, www.bestbuymobile.com/upgradechecker, allows you to verify the status of your contract and opt-in to receive a reminder when your contract is due for renewal.

The survey also found that while nearly one in four shoppers (23 percent) made their mobile phone decision based on the device itself, 67 percent selected carriers as their main purchasing influence. One in 10 selected a mobile phone based on the operating platform, such as Google's Android or Apple's iPhone platforms. Read more
