Zero-emission, All-Electric Bike Now Available

 Zero MX

This is not the same electric bike I mentioned a week or so ago. This one, the Zero MX, was developed by Zero Motorcycles and is targeted more towards motocross and track riding, while still expelling no emissions.

Zero Motorcycles has said that the MX will enable riders to jump higher and land softer, with a beefier front-end and a "custom rear shock that gives riders a fully adjustable spring preload and easily tuned damping."Read more

Two German Engineers Want to Sell their Electric Bike Globally!

 Elmoto

The Elmoto is a cross between a mountain bike and a motorcycle. It is powered by a 2KW engine that should last you up to 65km on a single battery charge. The aluminum frame only weighs 45kg, which should allow you to travel at a top speed of almost 45km/h.

Technically, the Elmoto is a "green" vehicle, because it doesn't emit any carbon dioxide. The developers are hoping to sell around 100 bikes before the end of this year. Then, they hope to increase their marketing and go global, to make 2010 a big year for sales.

The Elmoto costs $5,700 and is currently only available in Europe. So, would you buy something like this to help save on gas, or too be more "Green"?

Zero to X with 50 ft-lbs. of Torque

Zero X Electric Motorcycle This is not your old-school electric scooter. It is a true dirt bike that can race up hills, fly over jumps and scare you if you’re not careful. The 2009 Zero X electric motorcycle is faster, stronger and more durable than the previous version. The manufacturer, Zero Motorcycles, Inc. upgraded everything from the frame to the drivetrain. Could you imagine having all that motorcycle fun without the 2-stroke sound? When someone yells to get your attention, you will actually hear him or her as you jump through the air.

The Zero X also has a programmable power feature. You can limit the top speed to a legal 30 mph for a motorized bicycle, and go between easy and wheelie poppin’ sport mode.

Arlen Ness Customized Motorcycles

Arlen Ness Thin Twin MotorcycleStarting out in his garage in 1967 with the money he won as a semiprofessional bowler, Arlen bought his first Harley. Armed with no more than a spray gun and a dream, Arlen stripped down his Harley Knucklehead and gave it a paint job of his own creation. After many an appraising eye set sight on his work, Arlen entered it in a custom show. First show, First place! Then he was off.

With nights spent in the garage working on a growing list of customers’ bikes, it wasn’t long before he rented his first store on East 14th Street in San Leandro, California. By this time Arlen's son Cory had become a well-respected and reputable bike builder himself, designing his first bike in his mid teens. The two of them have since become the leaders in custom bike building. Arlen and Cory’s unique flair for design was noticed by Victory who was so impressed that they invited them to join the Victory motorcycle design team. Read more
