Black Friday Deals Revealed

 Black Friday Electronics

Black Friday 2011 is almost here. The editors over at Retrevo have been analyzing the deals on electronics from HDTV sets to digital cameras and have turned up some real deals and some duds. There are some great deals like a Sharp 42-inch 1080p TV for $199 at Best Buy although we suspect supplies will be limited on killer deals like this one. On the other hand, there are some deals that don't look as sweet - like the $78 Magnavox Blu-ray player at Walmart - that has been offered in past Black Friday deals. Here are some picks and recommendations:

*Amazon hadn't announced their prices as this list was put together but we're sure Amazon will be offering some very compelling deals

HDTV Bargains Come in All Sizes

If you're looking for a small TV to put on the counter, bedside or next to Grandma's chair there are some under $100 small screen sets worth considering. There are plenty of larger screen deals to consider as well even some 3D sets.

Samsung 55-inch D6000 LCD TV for $1099 at Sears
This TV offers some attractive features for the price. You get 120Hz, LED backlight and connectivity all for $400 off the normal price.

Dynex 24-inch 1080p LCD TV, $79 at Best Buy
Dynex is Best Buy's house brand which we understand is made by a Thai electronics manufacturer named Orion. Even though you don't really need 1080p on a set this size, it might make DVDs and games look better and it's hard to turn down at $79. Read more

Canon Unveils the PIXMA PRO-1 Professional Photo Inkjet Printer

Canon PIXMA PRO-1 Professional Photo Inkjet printer

PhotoPlus Expo 2011, a trade show for professionals and enthusiasts in the photographic and imaging industries, starts today. At the show, Canon unveiled the new PIXMA PRO-1 Professional Photo Inkjet printer, a printer aimed at DSLR users who require higher quality prints of their photographs.

The printer features a new 12-ink system (five of which are monochrome); along with a new FINE Print Head. What's the importance of the monochrome ink? Ask almost any professional photographer and they'll tell you that they often judge inkjet printers from the black-and-white images they produce, and monochrome inks deliver – providing deeper, truer blacks. But that's not all that's new in the ink system; a Chroma Optimizer is included which increases the color gamut, along with increasing the black density when printing on glossy media. In addition, the PIXMA PRO-1 uses a tubular ink-delivery system that improves the print speed, making the printer capable of producing a 13x19-inch print in approximately 4 minutes and 20 seconds.

Canon also announced that the purchase of the PIXMA PRO-1 Professional Inkjet printer can be used to qualify toward a Canon Professional Services (CPS) membership. The CPS program offers benefits that include (depending on membership level) phone and e-mail support, expedited and discounted service and repairs, service loaners, onsite support at select events and shows, plus discounts on Canon Live Learning workshops and more. HP Photosmart eStation All-in-One C510a Review

 HP Photosmart eStation C510a

When you think of office printing, it's hard not to think of HP. It's a safe bet that any person or company who has ever owned a printer has probably owned an HP.

Over the course of the last couple of years, HP has sought to really innovate what a printer looks like and the way we use them. Take their latest Photosmart eStation C510a. This baby is a fast color inkjet multi-function device with a unique difference. HP calls this "difference" the Zeen, a removable touchscreen control panel running the Android 2.1 operating system and offering tablet-PC-like functionality, including Web browsing. It even acts as detachable eReader.

Cost: $249.99-$399.99
Where to Buy: Amazon

No one can argue that tablets are probably the best selling consumer electronics product this year. Marrying a printer with a tablet is an interesting idea to say the least, but if you're willing to spend a little more on your inkjet, you do get a pretty nice little ancillary Android device that allows you to do some limited, but fun functions.

The 7-inch Zeen looks and works great as the C510a control panel. Its color touchscreen is gorgeous, and it accepts "taps" and "swipes" for navigating and performing key printing functions. When the Zeen is undocked, you still are able to control the Photosmart eStation, or you can print from an SD card loaded in the top-mounted slot, as well as print Web pages.Read more
