Disney Interactive Studios Introduces Video Games with 3-D Technology

June 29, 2009--Three-dimensional experiences are taking over the film experience at movie theaters in 2009 and Disney Interactive Studios is leading the way in video games by introducing innovative stereoscopic 3-D features in two of its premier games this summer. G-Force and Toy Story Mania! both feature revolutionary innovative experiences using 3-D technology and are the first games for next-generation systems to fully feature three-dimensional stereoscopic technology.

G-Force and Toy Story Mania! allow the player to choose to turn on special 3-D features in the games while wearing the enclosed 3-D glasses. Using the anaglyphic 3-D glasses, players will see the action extend forward from their television screens in a three-dimensional perspective while playing the games. Two sets of 3-D glasses will be enclosed in each package for players to experience visuals that seem to pop out from their television sets. The glasses enable both players to experience 3-D during a two-player Toy Story Mania! game or for an accompanying family member to view that perspective in G-Force. Both standard video game 3-D graphics and the stereoscopic 3-D experiences are offered in the games and can be changed by the player. Read more

Review - Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires

 Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires

System: PS3 and Xbox 360
- Reviewed on the PS3
MSRP: $39.99
Release Date: 6/23/09

Those of you interested in the latest iteration of the Dynasty Warrior franchise will already have a deep understanding of this game. It's basically a Beat-Em-Up title that takes place during the Three Kingdoms era in China.

Graphics

The graphics are nice with flashy attacks and special moves. Like previous Dynasty Warrior titles you will go up against countless hordes of enemies at once. Your character models look great; however, most of the random characters you run into and kill are not very unique. Because of this, though, I did not run into any slowdown or tearing. Also, some of the backgrounds seem a bit bland. Although, there are some other nice aesthetics in the game, like fighting in a snow covered area with snow falling down; it's practically blinding, but very realistic.

Review: Cross Edge (PS3 Only)

 Cross Edge

Cross Edge is a JRPG mashup that features characters from Disgaea, Darkstalkers, Spectral Souls, Atelier Marie, Mana Khemia and Air Tonelico franchises. This game originally came out in Japan nearly a year ago and I've been patiently waiting ever since for someone to port it. But, was it worth porting?

Graphics

Yes, the graphics are simple – mostly 2D sprites that remind me of the SNES or PSX days. To me, the graphics bring back a very sweet nostalgia. Furthermore, the spells, elemental attacks and EX skills that you can pull off are very flashy and smooth. The EX skills will encompass the entire screen in a colorful display. Read more
