Pandigital Debuts Industry's Thinnest Digital Photo Frame

Pandigital PanTouch Clear Digital Photo Frame

March 2, 2009 – Pandigital today debuts its new PanTouch Clear 10.4-inch digital photo frame at the Photo Marketing Association Show (PMA) in the Las Vegas Convention Center at the company’s booth #A279.

Delivering the ultimate in design and technology, the PanTouch Clear 10.4-inch frame measures only 1/3-inch thin, making it the company’s first frame with an ultra-slim profile design as well as the thinnest available on the market. The rear housing utilized in all photo frames until now has been completely eliminated in the 10.4-inch PanTouch Clear, so the frame can easily be hung on a wall as well as fit neatly and unobtrusively in any other location in the home or office.

Like other models in the PanTouch Clear line, the new 10.4-inch model features an eye-catching LCD that appears to be “floating” in the surrounding glass, giving it a dramatic design statement. This unique visual interest is further enhanced by the frame’s PanTouch Clear full touch-screen interface that “prints” invisible circuits on fingerprint-resistant, clear glass. This allows customers to enjoy intuitive full touch-screen capabilities while still enjoying the premium home décor-style look of the glass on the Pandigital Digital Photo Frame line. Read more

Canon Announces New 2009 PowerShot Line-Up

February 2009 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, today introduced 10 new PowerShot cameras that offer an array of photographic options for the entry-level consumer right up to the photo enthusiast. Whether on a family vacation, swimming in an ocean or out for a night on the town, the new line-up of PowerShot digital cameras enable consumers to customize their photographic experience to their personality with color, style and features galore.

Most PowerShot cameras for 2009 feature Canon’s exclusive DIGIC 4 Image Processor, with proprietary technology which accounts for the camera's higher performance levels, including improved signal processing speed and higher image quality. This new chip paves the way for a host of features including Canon’s new Smart AUTO. Smart AUTO intelligently selects the proper camera settings based on the specific shooting conditions of each scene, ensuring that all images are accurately focused, exposed, stabilized and white-balanced before the shutter is even pressed. Using data derived from Canon’s Optical Image Stabilization, Genuine Face Detection and Motion Detection Technologies, Smart AUTO automatically adjusts a multitude of settings including brightness and hue, during various shooting situations. Another enhancement available with select PowerShot models is Blink Detection Technology, which uses the Face Detection function to display an icon after shooting with a warning that someone’s eyes were closed (such as when blinking) during shooting. Unlike other systems which prevent users from taking a photo, Canon’s Blink Detection Technology lets users know immediately whether there’s any need to reshoot the image, thus providing a far more intuitive experience. Sony Cyber-shot T900 Even though there are still a couple of weeks until PMA, press releases have started trickling out on some of the cameras being shown at the annual photo trade show. One of them being information on Sony’s latest “intelligent” Cyber-shot digital cameras. The new T900, T90, W290 and H20 all feature an intelligent auto mode, which supposedly "think" for you and detect scene conditions and then adjust the settings for you. Seems very useful in difficult lighting situations. The intelligent auto mode can also tell when the person you are taking a picture of has closed eyes, it enhances the skin tone of the subject and can also reduce blur without reducing the quality of the image.

Other features include Sony's Smile Shutter technology and iSCN advanced – when a scene has difficult lighting, the camera will take two shots using two different settings, then you select the picture you prefer. Read more
