General Imaging Debuts 2009 GE Cameras

New JVC Full HD LCD Monitor Targets Digital SLR Users

March 3, 2009 – Establishing a new category in flat panel TV design, JVC announced an LCD TV system that includes a super slim monitor that features a color space that is wider than a typical HDTV’s.

The new JVC LT-42WX70 is a 42-inch class (42.02 inches diagonal) full HD LCD TV monitor that targets digital imaging professionals and enthusiasts using high-end digital SLR cameras, allowing them for the first time to see the subtle colors, details and textures of their images faithfully reproduced.

The monitor features expanded color space capacity encompassing 100 percent of HDTV broadcasting’s (sRGB.904) color space and a coverage rate of 96 percent for Adobe RGB — a color space for still photographs taken on high-definition digital SLR cameras — to provide accurate reproduction of both video and still photographs. The LT-42WX70 also features 52 picture-quality adjustment properties for tweaking both still and video images source-by-source to the exact colors and tones the user prefers. Read more

Sony Announces New Portable Photo Printers

March 3, 2009 – As the summer travel season approaches, Sony will make it easy for folks to print photos from just about anywhere, anytime by taking along one of its new lightweight photo printers announced today.

PENTAX Announces Megazoom Digital Camera

PENTAX just announced the 12 megapixel X70, a digital camera with a whopping 24X optical zoom lens. With SLR styling, it is a great camera for those who want a compact digital cam, but also want the features of a DSLR. Some of those features include aperture/shutter priority and metered manual modes, face detection, 2.7-inch LCD monitor, 720p HD movie mode, true hardware sensor-movement Shake Reduction, a high-speed burst mode that captures 11 images per second, and of course, the 24X megazoom lens. The PENTAX X70 will ship in April 2009 for $399.95.

PENTAX also announced a new lens for their DSLR cameras - the smc PENTAX DA 15mm F4 ED AL Limited ultra wide-angle lens. It features an aluminum lens barrel finish and has a unique ultra wide-angle perspective. The lens will ship in April 2009 for $649.95. Read more

AgfaPhoto Introduces New Camcorder at PMA 09

The compact format and the adjustable swiveling display make the camera suitable for a broad range of tasks. Use it as a fun video camera for birthday parties or weddings, as a photo camera while on vacation, or as a voice recorder for interviews. This new member of the AgfaPhoto family is being distributed in North America through VistaQuest Corporation (Booth A271).

The AgfaPhoto DV-5580Z records video in high definition, with a maximum of 1440 x 1080 pixels and 30 frames per second. The energy-saving CMOS sensor with a resolution of 8 megapixels delivers high-resolution still images while preserving battery power. The 5x optical zoom lets you capture images from a greater distance as well. And when using the optional 4x digital zoom, you can get even closer to the subject. A digital image stabilizer reduces blurring. For shooting in low light conditions such as dark interiors, the camera is equipped with a video light. Samsung Unveils Hybrid Digital Camera

At PMA this week, Samsung has unveiled what they call a ‘hybrid’ digital camera. The company says new NX Series will have the image quality of a DSLR, but will be compact and easy enough to use as a compact point-and- shoot.

Like a DSLR, the NX Series uses and APS-C sensor but without a mirror box. Instead, it uses an Electronic Viewfinder which allows the camera to be approximately 60% smaller and lighter than your normal DSLR.

The first model of NX Series will be available in the second-half of 2009. Pricing has not yet been announced.
