8.1 Megapixel Cyber-shot Phone from Sony Ericsson

Convergence is what stood out at me while attending PMA 2009. Here I am attending an awesome trade show about all things photography. Sony Ericsson is there showing off their new phones! Phones? Four of them specifically; C702 Cyber-shot phone, C902 Cyber-shot phone, C905 Cyber-shot phone and the C510 Cyber-shot phone. These camera phones were not only smaller than most point and shoot cameras at the trade show, but feature rich to boot!

C702 Cyber-shot phone is a 3.2 megapixel camera phone that is both dust and splash resistant. The camera function has Face Detection, Geo Tagging and Google Maps. The GPS is for location-based services and comes in Speed Black, and Cool Cyan colors. Read more

Sigma Announces the Launch of the DP2

March 2009 - The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the new Sigma DP2 compact digital camera featuring a 14 Mega Pixel FOVEON X3 direct image sensor (2,652 x 1,768 x 3 layers) as used in the Sigma SD14 digital SLR.

Sigma introduced to the market in March, 2008, the DP1 with its direct image sensor; the same sensor utilized by the Sigma SD14 digital SLR. It was called a “unique, groundbreaking, compact digital camera with all the power of a digital SLR”. Canon Receives Two DIMA Digital Printer Shoot-Out Awards at PMA 2009

March 4, 2009 – Canon just received two DIMA Digital Printer Shoot-Out awards for fine art photographic printing at the 2009 PMA International Convention and Trade Show. Canon is proud to announce that the Company received DIMA Digital Printer Shoot-Out awards for both the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF9100 60-inch large format printer for "Inkjet 50 inches Wide or More" category and the PIXMA MP980 Photo All-In-One (AIO) printer for "Black and White, Best B&W with grayscale inks" category. GE Intros Waterproof Digital Camera at PMA

General Imaging (GE Cameras) today announced their first waterproof digital camera – the G3WP. This 12.2 megapixel camera is waterproof to 10 feet and includes a 4x optical zoom, Auto Scene Detection, Pan-Capture Panorama, high ISO 3200 sensitivity, face, smile and blink detection, and has a 2.7-inch LCD screen that automatically adjusts to changes in ambient light.

The G3WP will be available in July 2009. Pricing has not yet been announced.

JVC Announces Everio X Hybrid Camera

At PMA, JVC announced a new Hybrid camera – the Everio GZ-X900 – which can simultaneously shoot full HD video and digital still images. Yes I know, other cameras do this, but what makes the Everio X different is the quality of images it produces – nine megapixels if shooting stills alone, and 5 megapixels if shooting video and stills at the same time. It is just like having a separate digital camera and camcorder! And at only 0.66 pounds, the Everio X is one of the lightest cameras to shoot 1920 x 1080 Full HD AVCHD video.

The Everio GZ-X900 (better known as the Everio X) will be available in June for $999. Read more

Casio Introduces New 10.1 Megapixel Digital Camera

JVC Announces 2009 Everio Line of Camcorders

For 2009, what the Everio line offers is choice – in storage medium, color and sharing. Casio Introduces First Digital Camera That Can Make Composite Moving Images
