Sony is a Slacker!

BRAVIA TV with Slacker radio screen Not really … I wrote about the Slacker radio the other day, and now Sony has a press release about Slacker. Randy Waynick, SVP of Sony Electronics’ Home Products Division said recently, “Internet content is expanding faster than ever and Sony is bringing it straight to BRAVIA televisions.”

It is about time, right? To explain what Slacker is briefly … internet radio that you control with DVR functionality. It is more than that, and Sony recognizes this value that it can bring to its core consumers. What stands out to me about this partnership is that Sony rarely (if ever) partners with another company. Something else to take note is the Sony BRAVIA is also integrating Howcast into this strategic partnership.

Small HDTV Pleases Aesthetics, Checkbook, and Government Mandate

Westinghouse W2613Upgrading to high definition (HD) is non-negotiable for sports fans, and tech experts, but some of the rest of us have put if off. While this may have been acceptable a few years ago, each passing day in this marketplace represents a better day to upgrade to HD than the last. The newest reason, Westinghouse’s 26” W2613 is no exception. Yes, the screen is small, but this also translates into less counter space; imagine what you can do with the extra space your boxy clunker used to occupy. Its smallness also means less out of your pocket; the new Westinghouse is under 500 dollars! Further, the W2613 is digital ready, meaning that you won’t have to do anything to continue receiving your signal after the government imposed deadline of February 19, 2009. Read more

LaserVue is an Amazing View!

Mitsubishi LaserVue The HD clarity in LCD and Plasma is amazing to see. The LaserVue takes it to another level with less power consumption. Mitsubishi has the 65” model of the LaserVue available at select retailers for $6,999 and the colors are amazing! At 10 inches thin the LaserVue TV can be wall mounted or a floor stand will make your home the place to watch all sporting events and movies. The best part of the LaserVue is that it is equipped with Mitsubishi’s 3D-ready technology.

The demo I viewed at CES 2008 was amazing, and I can assure you I will be buying this television for this technology. Yes, LIVE sporting events in 3D will have you saving for this television. The LaserVue reproduces colors in excess of 200 percent of the BR.709 standard. This translates to two times the color of many of today’s HDTV’s available in the market. Great work Mitsubishi!
