Shopping for a new mobile phone? Best Buy has announced that they are giving consumers a $50 gift card to anyone who registers and then purchases and activates a mobile phone at Best Buy by December 31, 2012. The offer is valid on Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile phones activated with a new two-year agreement at Best Buy or online at BestBuy.com (excluding T-Mobile activations requiring a deposit).

The offer is simple:

  • Step One: Consumers register their phone number at www.bestbuy.com/phonefreedom by Feb. 12, 2012
  • Step Two: Consumers activate the registered phone number with the purchase of a new mobile phone with a two-year agreement at Best Buy or BestBuy.com any time before Dec. 31, 2012
  • Step Three: Upon purchase and activation, customers will receive their $50 Best Buy gift card

T-Mobile kicks off its "New Year, New Phone Sale" today, which offers the HTC Amaze 4G, Samsung Galaxy S II or the T-Mobile SpringBoard tablet (among other devices), for $49.99 or less. The price is net down payment and after a mail-in rebate card, and, of course, a new two-year agreement is required. But it's still a pretty good deal. The sale takes place this weekend only - Friday, January 6 through Sunday, January 8, 2012.

T-Mobile Outs the Samsung Exhibit II 4G

T-Mobile has a new 4G smartphone hitting Walmart store shelves on October 27, the Samsung Exhibit II 4G. This will be the first no annual contract 4G smartphone to be sold at most Walmart stores. The Samsung Exhibit II 4G is also planned for nationwide availability with no annual contract plans as well as two-year contract plans starting November 2.

The Samsung Exhibit II 4G features a 3.7-inch WVGA TFT touchscreen, a fast 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It packs in a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera with flash and video capture capabilities and a front-facing camera for video chat. The device also allows you to organize personal and business email accounts, as well as sync with Microsoft Exchange and Google calendar and contacts.

Available in a marine blue color, the Samsung Exhibit II 4G is exclusive to T-Mobile. It is available today at most Walmart stores and is planned to be available nationwide at T-Mobile stores and online at www.T-Mobile.com beginning Nov. 2. The Samsung Exhibit II 4G will be offered through no annual contract and two-year contract plan options, and is expected to cost $29.99 (after a $50 mail-in-rebate card with a two-year service agreement and qualifying Classic voice and data plan), and $199.99 via no annual contract.

T-Mobile has added two new myTouch Android phones to its roster – one simply called myTouch and the other, myTouch Q. Both are designed to be easily set-up and are aimed at the first-time smartphone user.

myTouch touts a 3.8-inch touch screen and a virtual keyboard with Swype, while the myTouch Q is equipped with a 3.5-inch touch screen plus a physical slide-out full QWERTY keyboard. Both devices are powered by Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and a 1GHz Qualcomm processor. T-Mobile's New Value Plans Launch Today

T-Mobile's New Value plans are slated to launch today, giving new and existing customers a range of price points for talk, unlimited text and unlimited data with 2 GB, 5 GB or 10 GB of high-speed data — with no data overage charges.

Under T-Mobile's new value plans, customers will be able to purchase a new smartphone by making a down payment and then paying off the balance over time, interest free.

For example, T-Mobile's new Value family plan with unlimited talk, unlimited text and unlimited data with 2 GB of high-speed data is $49.99 per line for two lines. Even with the addition of purchasing two smartphones, such as the T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide, on T-Mobile's Equipment Installment Plan, the company says that customers will save around $800 annually.
