New Dell XPS 7100 Packs AMD Phenom II X6 CPU

Dell announced new computers this week made for multi-taskers. Thanks to AMD's VISION Technology, the new PCs are said to handle social networking, entertainment and multimedia creation with ease. One of the first desktops available is the Dell Studio XPS 7100, featuring the AMD Phenom II X6 six-core processor with AMD Turbo Core technology. Quad-core Athlon II processors are also available.

Other features include:

  • Oversized 460-watt power supply to support future expansion and hardware upgrades including AMD 125W class CPUs and 225W class graphics.
  • Up to 16GB of fast DDR3 dual-channel memory;
  • Up to 3TB of hard drive storage;
  • Integrated ports include, eSATA, Optical SPDIF and HDMI for more digital connections; and,
  • Integrated 19-in-one media card reader and support for SATA 6Gb/s hard drives for high speed disk transfer of HD media

The six-core processor XPS 7100 starts at $699. The Dell Studio XPS 7100 is available now from Dell.com, and will be available at retailers soon.

Dell Rolls Out New Studio XPS Desktops

Dell just launched the new Studio XPS 8000 and Studio XPS 9000 desktop computers built with gamers and multimedia enthusiasts in mind. The Studio XPS includes Intel's newest desktop processors - the Core i5 Quad Core and Core i7 Quad Core, Integrated 7.1 high-definition surround sound, Optional Blu-ray Disc and Blu-ray Disc burner, and Optional 3D capabilities. The Dell Studio XPS 8000 starts in price at $799.

Dell also announced the Studio XPS 9000 with new performance graphics options. The Studio XPS 9000 is one of Dell's most powerful and expandable entertainment desktop computers. It starts in price at $849.

It’s amazing to think that Dell would release information on a new Studio XPS and us not hear about it. I mean, Dell is on Twitter, they have a blog, a flickr account, they post press releases…you would think we would have heard something about this new powerhouse of a desktop. But nope. Not a word.

Here are the some of the basics we’ve found out:

The new Studio XPS 435 will feature Intel Core i7 processors, a 6 DIMM slot for up to 24GB of memory, and 3 hard drive bays for up to 4.5TB of storage. It includes Intel Dynamic Speed technology that delivers an 8-threaded performance capability on 4 cores…excellent for all of us multitaskers. An ATI Radeon HD4870 1GB graphics card is included, and Blu-ray is optional. With its HDMI port, you can connect the computer to your TV and watch content on the big screen.
