Fit For Holiday Travel

Even holiday travel can leave us all feeling cramped, congested and cranky. No matter what the fun filled destination holds, we can hardly wait to get to change clothes, unwind and hit the gym...just a few ways harried travelers can rejoin the human race.

Easing stress after a tedious flight is critical. A recent survey indicates 90% of adults feel that traveling for business creates tremendous stress. So, what's a traveler to do when she hits the road for the holidays? There's good news...when it comes to health and fitness, the hospitality industry is catching up to the public's interest in keeping fit.

This week, for example, I'm heading to my home town in TX, Before departing, I've checked the net to see which hotels have comprehensive gyms. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Reebok University has designed several workout programs for both in-room and in-gym workouts that accommodate travelers on the road. In addition to newly redesigned fitness facilities in all Westin hotels Reebok has put together 20, 40 and 60-minute workout regimens. The varying programs are designed to accommodate the random schedules typical of traveling. Workout literature is provided to all guests -- which can be taken home!

There are 10 workouts in all and a specific channel will be allocated for fitness. The programs include yoga, pilates, stretch and strength routines designed to be easily executed in the comfort of one's own room and even in one's own bed!

So, I've packed my gear, and am looking forward to fitting my workouts into the holiday season that will include a few parties and festive but not 'lite' dinners!
