If you're ready for an extreme workout, the NordicTrack Teton
Trekker may
be for you. The hiking simulator can "lead" you to trails with
steep
inclines. Named after the Grand Teton National Park in Jackson Hole,
Wyo.,
the NordicTrack Teton offers 26 preprogrammed hiking and trail workouts
with
moderate, challenging and extreme trails. Users can chart their
progress for
each trail from the base to the summit on the detailed Navigator
console.
Walking on an incline allows you to burn more calories. For example, a
150-pound person can burn 90 calories walking 2 miles per hour on a
flat
surface. By increasing the incline to 25 percent, the same person can
burn
up
to 333 calories. The NordicTrack Teton allows users to choose inclines
ranging from minus 5 to 50 percent. It sells for $2,300.
