NikeTeam.comNike Team Sports, Inc. launches NikeTeam.com, allowing athletic teams to build, customize and order Nike uniforms, footwear and equipment over the Internet.
Nike has chosen the annual American Football Coaches Association conference in Atlanta to unveil Niketeam.com, Nike's new custom team ordering web site. Now high school, college, recreation, and all other teams can build and customize their team uniform using an array of fonts and colors, then order for the whole team at one site. The site was unveiled and demonstrated at the annual football coaches show January 8 - 12, 2001.

"Now coaches, equipment managers and athletic directors have a place to go to view and access Nike's complete line of uniforms, training gear, footwear and equipment," says Shawn Dean, Director of Team Operations for Nike Team Sports. "This is a huge step forward for teams who do not have access to a team dealer, or who want to browse the selection before meeting with a dealer."

Coaches can log on to NikeTeam.com and look at a favorite college uniform, then choose colors and fonts that match their own team's individual style and traditions. For example, a small high school in rural North Carolina who wants a uniform look like the legendary UNC Tar Heels, now can log on to NikeTeam.com and customize the Tar Heel uniform to look like their own. While anyone can browse the site, including student athletes and individual players, only team organization staff and team dealers can register and place an order.

While designing a uniform is the main feature of NikeTeam.com, the site is also a "one-stop-shopping" site for high-performance team training and competition gear for all sports. In the track and field category, teams can customize and order the Nike Speed Suit, as seen on Michael Johnson and Maurice Green at the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. Teams looking for a team dealer in their area can find one on NikeTeam.com.

The site has a locator feature to assist in connecting with a dealer who can take an order, answer questions about fabrication and availability, as well as provide face-to-face customer service.
