New Speakers Rock the Outdoors

 SpeakerCraft Ruckus Outdoor Speakers

SpeakerCraft just unveiled a new line of outdoor rock speakers – Ruckus. Replacing the Rox series, the new Ruckus line has major upgrades in sound and appearance.

The Ruckus series is available in granite and sandstone finishes and will easily blend into any landscape. Featuring a durable U.V. and weather-resistant lacquer coating on top of a reinforced, color-matched polyresin enclosure, you will get years of outdoor music enjoyment. Even if the outer coating is chipped, the material underneath is the same color and will keep its rock-like look.

Ruckus is available in five, six or eight-inch versions with a standard coaxial driver, as well as a dual tweeter model that plays both stereo channels from a single speaker. If added bass is wanted, SpeakerCraft also announced a subwoofer with a dedicated amplifier – the Sub Ruckus.

The Ruckus 5 ($225 ea.), Ruckus 6 ($275 ea.) and Ruckus 8 ($450 ea.) will ship this month. The Sub and Dual Tweeter models will be available six weeks later. Pricing for the Ruckus Sub (including the dedicated amp) is $999 ea., the Ruckus DT (Dual Tweeter) will be available for $350 each.

SpeakerCraft says that this receiver "will stand up next to any of the finest receivers in the business." The SCR910 will be available at the end of the year as well, with an MSRP of $1250.

New SpeakerCraft Sound Pillows Surface Mounted Speaker

November 3, 2008- SpeakerCraft, America's original manufacturer of in-wall speakers is pleased to announce the Sound Pillows. These softly sculpted surface mount speakers can be mounted on any solid surface with only a small cutout for the wire terminations.

"Making things easy for the installers is one of our prime concerns," said Dave Donald, SpeakerCraft's V.P. of Marketing. "The Sound Pillows take ease of installation to a new level."

Installers have a choice of two mounting methods depending on the surface. A "dog frame" allows for installation in standard drywall with flip-out dogs that sandwich the drywall like a standard in-wall speaker. A mounting plate is then attached to the frame. This mounting plate also contains the speaker wire connections. Wires are attached to the plate and the connections to the speaker itself take place automatically when the speaker is connected to the plate and secured with two push-in tabs. Read more
