Sony Ships VAIO Notebook Dock With Embedded DisplayLink USB Graphics Technology

September 8, 2008 -- DisplayLink Corp. today announced that its network display technology is now available in the new Sony VAIO USB Docking Station, a USB-based universal notebook dock that’s now shipping to customers in the United States, the European Union and Japan.

The result of a collaboration announced at CES earlier this year, the new docking station allows Sony notebook users to connect an analog or DVI display to a laptop using USB 2.0 – enabled by innovative multi-monitor computing technology from DisplayLink.

The Sony VAIO dock can be used with any display with an analog or DVI connector and a resolution up to 1600 x 1200. This, combined with the universal USB 2.0 connection to the PC, makes it possible for corporate IT departments to deploy these universal docking stations to any worker with a Sony VAIO or any other brand of notebook. Sony’s New Digital Photo Frame Goes Wireless


 Sony VAIO CP1 September 4, 2008 -- Sony just unveiled the wireless VAIO CP1 Wi-Fi photo frame, making it easier than ever to share digital images as well as receive news and stream Internet radio in real-time.

Utilizing built-in Wi-Fi technology, the CP1 model lets you stream photos from a VAIO PC directly to the device. Featuring more than 16 million colors and 800x480 resolution, photos locked away on your PC will now come to life on the photo frame’s brilliant 7-inch LCD screen.

Sony Delivers Ultimate A/V Experience with New ES Blu-ray Player


 Sony BDP-S5000ES Blu-ray Disc Player September 4, 2008 – Sony just announced the new BDP-S5000ES Blu-ray Disc player, featuring the company’s newly developed HD Reality Enhancer and Super Bit Mapping technologies that deliver even sharper and more vibrant images from today’s Blu-ray Disc movies.

The model, which is fully BD-Live capable, features an Ethernet connection that allows users to connect to the Internet via their existing service provider to access BD-Live features and easy firmware updates. It also is equipped with an external flash memory port and includes a 1GB Sony Micro Vault Tiny flash storage device. The BDP-S5000ES also features Quick Start mode, improving boot-up times to approximately six seconds, which is seven times faster than previous models.

Sony’s Wired AV Receivers Serve as Hub for Multi-Room HD Entertainment


 Sony STR-DA6400ES September 4, 2008 – Sony just introduced two new ES A/V receivers with a CAT5e port, allowing them to provide high-definition video to a second room.

The STR-DA6400ES and STR-DA5400ES models offer second room high-definition video and audio distribution via CAT5e wiring. The CAT5e output shared by both models provides an inexpensive option in sharing HD video in a second room.

Additionally, the STR-DA6400ES features an extra CAT5e input and is Digital Life Network Alliance (DLNA) compliant. The combination makes the STR-DA6400ES Sony’s first network A/V receiver. Now there is a Sony A/V receiver that can stream music, photos and video from a DLNA-compliant PC plus it can access online music content from Rhapsody and Shoutcast Internet Radio without a PC. Sony Introduces Two New 1080p SXRD Front Home Theater Projectors


 Sony VPL-HW10 September 4, 2008– Sony Electronics just unveiled two full high-definition 1080p BRAVIA projectors (models VPL-VW70 and VPL-HW10) offering more choices for customers looking for the ultimate home theater viewing experience.

The new 1920 x 1080 progressive Silicon X-tal Reflective Display (SXRD) projectors feature 24p True Cinema technology, delivering film-like performance. Built for the home theater enthusiast, the VPL-VW70 features 60,000:1 dynamic contrast, brightness of 800 ANSI lumens.

New Sony Cyber-shot Camera's Video Capture Goes High Def

August 28, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony is adding high-definition movie recording to its digital camera line with the introduction of the Cyber-shot DSC-T500 model.

This 10-megapixel camera features wide and full-screen 720p movie recording at 30 frames per second in fine, standard and VGA recording modes. This resolution is three times higher than standard-definition movies.

The movie function is based on the MPEG4 AVC/H.264 codec for video compression and stereo audio. Benefits of the format include high-quality video as well as small file sizes that are easy to download, upload and share. Read more
