iWhatever is the Answer...What Was the Question?

 Road House, 1989

"All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One, never underestimate your opponent. Expect the unexpected. Two, take it outside. Never start anything inside the bar unless it's absolutely necessary. And three, be nice."Dalton, "Road House" (1989), Silver Pictures

If Steve Jobs had a Facebook page, he'd probably have more "likes" than, well…anyone.

He doesn't though, he prefers Twitter…yeah, right!

Some people even go beyond liking Steve. Remember the guy at Apple's WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) who blurted out, "Steve, we love you."?

Cupertino city council had a similar view when he presented Apple's super concept for the company's new campus.

Come on, the spaceship is cool.

It'll be great to see a building in the Valley that isn't just another tilt-up slab.Read more

 Seagate GoFlex Slim

Seagate Outs iPhone App for GoFlex TV and FreeAgent Theater+ HD Media Players

 Seagate TV Remote App

Seagate last week announced that its Seagate TV Remote application is now available for download from the iTunes Store. The new Seagate TV Remote app allows you to control your GoFlex TV or FreeAgent Theater+ from anywhere in the home using an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch via Wi-Fi. Also, because the app leverages the home Wi-Fi network, there is no need for line-of-sight between the HD media player and the controller, allowing it to be used anywhere within the home.

Current owners of Seagate's media players will be able to use the keyboard on their Apple mobile device to search YouTube, Netflix and Pandora, simply by pressing an onscreen button. With the TV Remote app, people can now see a display of all the files stored on the external hard drives connected to GoFlex TV or FreeAgent Theater+ HD media players. It also allows the navigation of photos stored on the Apple mobile device in order to send them over the network to the drive attached to either media player. The photos will be saved to the drive and automatically displayed on the TV in full resolution. The TV Remote app will work with every Seagate media player on the network and will automatically scan a Wi-Fi network for any available GoFlex TV or FreeAgent Theater+ HD media players. Read more

Storage: Worry About It the Day After Tomorrow

 The Day After Tomorrow, 2004

"I am president of the Electronics Club, the Math Club, and the Chess Club. Now if there's a bigger nerd in here, please... point him out." Brian Parks (The Day After Tomorrow, 2004) 20th Century Fox

Attend CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in January and you'll have lots of fun. People are excited, exhilarated even. But the things they're showing aren't even good paperweights without all the great storage advances. That's why we went to the Flash Memory Summit – a little bit of fun, tons of optimism. Then, there's DISKCON – the hard drive show – techie…fact-filled…that's about it.

Terry Rapson summed it up, "Oh, you know what these scientific gatherings are. All dancing girls, wine and parties."

No one stands in long lines late into the night when a new flash or hard drive hits the store, but they're having a tough time producing enough to keep pace with what we're doing with our personal/business things.

The only exciting day was back in 1956 when IBM shipped the 305 RAMAC (Random Access Method of Accounting and Control) storage solution. Read more
