Samsung Unveils $400 24x Megazoom HZ25W

Samsung's new 12.5 megapixel HZ25W has the most powerful lens ever offered on a Samsung compact digital camera. The HZ25W's Schneider-KREUZNACH lens has a 24x optical zoom with a 26mm wide-angle focal length (35mm film equivalent focal range of 26mm-624mm). But not only that, this digital cam offers full manual control, RAW support, as well as recording 720p HD video in H.264 format.

The HZ25W features a three-inch LCD screen, dual image stabilization, aperture and shutter priority, a full manual shooting mode, as well as manual focusing. Also, shots can be made in RAW (DNG1.1), JPEGs, or both right on the camera. The HZ25W records 720p HD video using H.264 compression, with the ability to zoom in and out while recording as well. Samsung DualView Cameras Make Self-Portraits Simple

New Samsung CL65 Features Geotagging, Wi-Fi

Samsung today announced the new CL65, a 12.2 megapixel digital camera that features built-in geotagging, Bluetooth, DLNA compatibility and Wi-Fi.

With built-in geotagging, the CL65 displays the city on the camera's LCD screen, showing the location where you're taking a photo, as well as a reference for when you are reviewing the images. It also includes embedded PC software package 'intelli-studio', so you can view, edit and manage pictures on the camera before uploading them.

Thanks to Bluetooth 2.0, you can wirelessly send your photos to other compatible devices. And with a Wi-Fi connection, you can email photos directly from your camera and upload them to social networking sites. The CL65 also has DLNA connectivity, so you can wirelessly connect to other DLNA devices in your networked home, such as an HDTV, to view images.Read more

Samsung Announces Two Affordable, 12 Megapixel Cameras

The new SL720 and SL502 offer 12.2 megapixels, 5x optical zoom and eye-catching style. With the SL720, users have access to a 28mm wide-angle lens, while the SL502 offers a standard 35mm lens. The SL720 and SL502 offer powerful 5x optical zooms and are each paired with image stabilization to help reduce blur caused by hand movements.

The SL720 features Dual Image Stabilization, which combines both optical and digital stabilization technology, while the SL502 offers Digital Image Stabilization. Users can also frame their shots and review their images on the cameras' large LCD screens. The SL720 is equipped with a 3-inch LCD and the SL502 comes equipped with a 2.7-inch LCD.

The cameras feature 11 different scene modes, Samsung's Smart Auto shooting mode and Face Recognition technology. Also, the SL720 can record up to 720p, which can be played on an HDTV through an optional HDMI cradle sold separately.

Both Samsung models are expected to release in August for a MSRP of $229.99 (SL720) and $149.99 (SL502).

Samsung just announced that its SMX-F34 camcorder received a 2009 TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) Award, as the Best Entry Level Camcorder. Quite an honor for Samsung, the TIPA Awards recognize the world's best digital imaging products each year.

The SMX-F34 is Samsung's YouTube compatible compact digital camcorder. The handy Web & Mobile shooting mode lets you record in the format and resolution that YouTube requires, making getting your videos to the web faster than ever. The camcorder also includes a Photo mode so you can to use the SMX-F34 as a digital camera.

The SMX-F34 features a memory card slot for SD/SDHC and 16GB of internal flash memory. With H.264 compression, up to eight hours of standard definition video can be recorded using the 16GB built-in memory. Other features include a battery life of up to three hours, Schneider optics, built-in memory, and Samsung's 42x Intelli-Zoom. The MSRP for the Samsung SMX-F34 is $299.99.

Samsung Unveils Hybrid Digital Camera

At PMA this week, Samsung has unveiled what they call a ‘hybrid’ digital camera. The company says new NX Series will have the image quality of a DSLR, but will be compact and easy enough to use as a compact point-and- shoot.

Like a DSLR, the NX Series uses and APS-C sensor but without a mirror box. Instead, it uses an Electronic Viewfinder which allows the camera to be approximately 60% smaller and lighter than your normal DSLR.

The first model of NX Series will be available in the second-half of 2009. Pricing has not yet been announced.
